Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer readable media are described for tailoring instructions for configuring a smart device based on feedback received from the smart device and/or based on feedback received from a device that is separate from the smart device. Some implementations additionally or alternatively relate to utilization of data corresponding to previous installations of similar smart devices to tailor provided instructions in order to mitigate the reoccurrence of past issues during configuration of smart devices. Some implementations additionally or alternatively relate to proactively suggesting and/or providing, to a user, guidance related to a smart device in response to determining the smart device is to be configured by the user and/or in response to determining a complete configuration of the smart device has not occurred.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for automatic security system mode selection. A set of signals may be received from sensors distributed in an environment with a security system. The security system may be in a first mode. An occupancy model may be received. An occupancy estimate may be generated for the environment based on the set of signals from the sensors and the occupancy model. Mode rules may be received. The mode rules associate occupancy estimates with modes of the security system. A second mode for the security system may be determined based on the occupancy estimate and mode rules. The second mode may be different from the first mode. The mode of the security system may be automatically changed from the first mode to the second mode.

Abstract: A computing device is associated with one or more electronic devices in a smart home environment. A current environment status is identified from a hierarchy of three or more alert levels of the smart home environment based on a combination of device states of a subset of electronic devices. The current environment status is indicated by an environment status indicator that is displayed in a display area of the computing device concurrently with device state icons corresponding to the device states of the subset of electronic devices. Further, based on the current environment status of the smart home environment, a feature sets is determined for a smart home application executable on the computing device for interacting with the smart home environment. The determined feature set includes selectable commands for performing device functions associated with the current environment status.

A communication about the anomaly can be provided via a user interface of the mobile computing device. The anomaly can be caused by a bug in an operating system of the mobile computing device. Notifications about the anomaly can be provided to a user of the mobile computing device or other mobile computing devices registered to a shared account.
