摘要: A lens for an LED having a lens body providing total internal reflection of light emitted by the LED from a first emission point disposed proximate a first junction of the lens body and centerplane. The lens includes an arcuate light-diffusing edge for diffusing light emitted by the LED and reflected by the angular base and sidewall assembly, the light being diffused by the lens at substantially uniform luminance across a sector of at least 150 degrees centered and measured about the first junction. The light diffused by the lens provides for substantially uniform mixing of at least two different colors of light emitted by a multi-color LED apparatus disposed at the first emission point.

摘要: A high-isolation call cord switch includes connectivity for a standard hospital-style push-button call cord while using low voltage alternating current to isolate detection circuitry from static electricity. An alternating current signal is used to permit transformer coupling, with its intrinsic isolation capability, between the call cord switch and the detection circuit.

摘要: An ultrasonic transmitter system(s) and method(s) are described having location and tracking capabilities. The transmitter's, by using ultra sound and encoded micro-modulation, are able to provide enhanced longevity and reliability. A maze algorithm is devised that further provides discrimination of false detections, versus true detections, and no detection.

摘要: A method for treating waste gases contaminated with toxic or odorous compounds in the form of a mist using a regenerative incinerator system is provided. The contaminated waste gas is passed through a first regenerator so that the waste gas is heated by contact with the packing material contained therein. This hot contaminated waste gas is passed through a combustion chamber to oxidize the compounds in the waste gas. The hot treated waste gas is passed through another regenerator to cool the gas and heat the packing material contained therein. The cleaned gas is discharged. Part of the cleaned gas is heated and passed through the regenerator to volatilize and/or remove compounds remaining in the regenerator after passage of the waste gas, thereby cleaning the regenerator.

摘要: An electrophoretic method for purifying a nucleic acid sample is disclosed. The method generally comprises the steps of (1) providing a nucleic acid sample comprising a desired nucleic acid and one or more contaminants, (2) providing an electrophoresis matrix having a loading well and a recovery well formed therein, (3) placing the nucleic acid sample into the loading well, (4) performing a first electrophoresis comprising electrophoresing the nucleic acid sample for a first time effective to transport the desired nucleic acid out of the loading well and into the electrophoresis matrix; and (5) performing a second electrophoresis comprising electrophoresing the nucleic acid sample for a second time effective to transport the desired nucleic acid out of the electrophoresis matrix and into the recovery well. According to the method, the first and second electrophoresis steps are effective to substantially reduce the concentration of contaminants relative to the concentration of desired nucleic acid in the nucleic acid sample, thereby producing a purified nucleic acid. In the method, the loading and recovery wells may be the same or different, and the electric fields may be DC or alternating. Also disclosed is a preparative electrophoresis method employing an alternating electrical field.

摘要: A process for treating gaseous emissions generated during the production of carbon anodes in the aluminum industry. In this process, first gaseous emissions generated during green anode preparation are collected and preheated by direct contact with a stream of combustion gases. Second gaseous emissions generated during anode baking are also collected and mixed with the first gaseous emissions to form a gaseous emission mixture. Alumina powder is then injected into the so obtained mixture and the resulting mixture with the alumina injected therein is processed into a dry scrubber that is equipped with a bag filter and is operating at temperatures well above the saturation temperature of tars, so as to obtain a gaseous mixture partially purified and free of fluorides and particulates. The so obtained partially purified gaseous mixture is then processed into an oxidation furnace in order to destroy all the organic compounds contained therein.
