    摘要: A method and apparatus for acquiring timing signals for use in a positioning receiver using timing assistance provided by a wireless communications system, such as cellular telephone system. A mobile terminal equipped with a positioning receiver operates in a wireless communications system having control channels and at least one traffic channel unsynchronized to the control channels. The mobile terminal camps on a first control channel in a first cell having a first time base associated therewith. While camped on the control channel, the mobile terminal establishes a local clock reference, internal to the mobile terminal, capable of tracking the first time base. The mobile terminal then operates on a first traffic channel that is unsynchronized to the first control channel and notes the difference in time bases between the control channel and the traffic channel. Either while camped on the control channel or while operating on the traffic channel, the mobile terminal receives TDMA-to-GPS relationship data, which is a measure of the offset between system time for the wireless communications system as expressed on particular control channel (“TDMA time”) and the system time for the GPS system (“GPS time”). Thereafter, an accurate estimate of the GPS time is calculated in the mobile terminal based on the local clock reference and the TDMA-to-GPS relationship data. In some aspects, the local clock reference is updated based on the first traffic channel so as to minimize errors arising from timing drift.

The method includes providing a plurality of subscription modules each having a unique identifier that corresponds to a plurality of non-activated service subscriptions. An activation period is established for each of the non-activated service subscriptions within which the corresponding subscriptions must be activated or deleted from the system. A list of unique identifiers and their associated activation periods is stored in the wireless communications system. To activate the subscription, a subscription module is mated with a mobile equipment device. An over-the-air activation request is transmitted to the wireless communications system that includes the unique identifier associated with said selected subscription module. The service subscription associated with the unique identifier is activated when the unique identifier is stored on the list and the activation period is valid.

    摘要: An IMS-enabled control channel for an IPTV service is provided by receiving at a Serving Call/State Control Function (S-CSCF) a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) REGISTER message, the SIP REGISTER message identifying the originating user, receiving at the originating user a response from the S-CSCF indicating that the originating user has been authorised, and sending a SIP INVITE message from the S-CSCF to establish an open channel connection with a selected IPTV Application Server (AS). This open channel connection can then be used for the transmission of control messages, such as for starting play, starting recording, stopping play, etc., between the STB and the IPTV applications server, as well as for the delivery of personalized content, such as advertisements, voting responses, personalized voting triggers and targeted interactive events.     摘要: Determining the position of a mobile terminal operating in a packet-switched communications system based on timing advance values obtained through network initiated artificial cell hops. The mobile terminal may be instructed to perform a series of artificial cell changes so that timing advance values may be obtained for the mobile terminal with respect to a plurality of base stations. The position of the mobile terminal is then determined based on the timing advance values, optionally supplemented by signal strength measurements. The mobile terminal may contact a network entity via the base station in each cell before being instructed to change to the next base station. Or, the mobile terminal may be supplied with a list of base stations to contact, with the mobile terminal transmitting short access bursts to the base station in a given cell before automatically tuning to the next cell, without waiting for an acknowledgement.
