摘要: A projection (9) is provided in a male connector (1). A lever (16) is rotatably provided in a female connector (2). The lever (16) has a curved groove (18). When the lever (16) is turned, the projection (9) is inserted into the groove (18). As the projection (9) is inserted into this groove (18), the connection between the male connector (1) and the female connector (2) is strengthened. At that time, the lever (16) provides leverage. Moreover, the distance between the fulcrum for this lever and a point of action gradually decreases. Furthermore, in this case, the groove (18) is formed in such a way as to extend to the turning center portion of the lever (16), so that the distance between the fulcrum for the lever and the point of action is reduced still more. Consequently, a larger connecting force can be provided thereto.

Thus, a pushing operation force applied to the outer housing (18) is transmitted to the inner housings (19) sequentially. Consequently, the outer housing (18) and the pushing operation force transmitting member (20) are alternately pushed. Thus, the plurality of steps respectively constituted by the inner housings (19) are sequentially connected to a male connector (12).

摘要: A lever (14) is pivotally movably supported on a female connector (11). In accordance with the movement of a slide member (13) relative to the female connector (11), the lever (14) is pivotally moved while held in engagement with a tongue portion (29b) of an engagement portion (29) formed on a male connector (16), and with this construction the inserting force is reduced. When the slide member (13) is completely drawn out relative to the female connector (11), an engagement projection (14g) of the lever (14) is engaged with an engagement claw (26a) of an elastic arm portion (26), and the lever (14) is held in this position. When a projection (29a) of the engagement portion (29) elastically deforms the elastic arm portion (26), the retained condition of the lever (14) is canceled, so that the lever (14) is allowed to be pivotally moved.

摘要: A connector has terminals, each having a tip end portion. A wiring board has through holes. A land is provided on the wiring board about each through hole. When the connector is mounted on the wiring board, each terminal is connected to one of the lands with a part of the tip end portion being located in the corresponding through hole. The ratio of the cross-sectional area of each tip end portion to the cross-sectional area of each through hole is at least 0.11 and no more than 0.89. This improves the reliability of the joint portions between the terminals and the wiring board.

摘要: A waterproof connector has a housing formed with holding portions capable of holding terminal fittings, and formed at one end with a fitting hole into which electric wires connected to the held terminal fittings are inserted; a waterproof plug having first electric wire insertion holes corresponding to the holding portions and fitted into the fitting hole; and a holder having a body portion preventing the waterproof plug from detaching from the housing and provided on the opposite side of the waterproof plug to the terminal fittings. The body portion of the holder is formed with second electric wire insertion holes into which the electric wires inserted into the first electric wire insertion holes are inserted. Further, the body portion is formed integrally with fitting protrusions that fit into the unused first electric wire insertion holes, thereby preventing drops of water from entering the housing through the unused first electric wire insertion holes.

摘要: In a terminal manufacturing method of the present invention, first a thin plate-like body including a thin plate-like terminal portion and a thin plate-like leg portion is formed with a die. The thin plate-like terminal portion has a shape corresponding to a terminal portion 24 of an upper-level terminal 22 and a terminal portion 30 of a lower-level terminal 28. The thin plate-like leg portion has the shape corresponding to a leg portion 26 of the upper-level terminal 22 and a leg portion 32 of the lower-level terminal 28. Then, the upper-level terminal 22 is formed by bending the thin plate-like leg portion toward one side of a plate-thickness direction. Also, the lower-level terminal 28 is formed by bending the thin plate-like leg portion toward the other side of the plate-thickness direction. Thus, by simply changing the bending direction of the thin plate-like leg portion, either the upper-level terminal 22 or the lower-level terminal 28 can be formed. According to the terminal manufacturing method of the invention, when the terminal includes a first terminal mounted in an upper-level mounting hole of a connector housing and a second terminal mounted in a lower-level mounting hole, these two terminals can share a blank material of the same type in common at the manufacturing stage thereof.

In this connector, provisional anchoring pieces and main anchoring pieces are provided at two end portions of an inner peripheral wall of an insertion hole formed in the housing, with lengths along a direction that intersects a direction of insertion of the retainer into the insertion hole. At outer sides of two end portions of the retainer, anchorage pawls, which are formed to be engageable with the main anchoring pieces and the provisional anchoring pieces, are provided with lengths along the intersecting direction. With this structure, when the retainer is inserted into the insertion hole of the housing, the anchorage pawls engage, at two end portions of the connector, with the provisional anchoring pieces and with the main anchoring pieces.

摘要: An upper tier terminal is provided with a fitting portion and a board attachment portion. When the upper tier terminal is being fabricated, a first wire member which is a component of the fitting portion and a second wire member which is a component of the board attachment portion, whole peripheral surfaces of which have been subjected to a plating treatment beforehand, are employed. End portions of the first wire member and the second wire member are mutually superposed, and the first wire member and the second wire member are joined. Thus, the fitting portion is formed and the board attachment portion is formed. Hence, a surface of the upper tier terminal is structured by a plating layer at the peripheral surface of the first wire member and a plating layer at the peripheral surface of the second wire member. Consequently, a post-plating treatment can be rendered unnecessary.
