摘要： A gas laser tube assembly includes a gas laser tube having ends, optical elements each vacuum-tightly closing off a respective end of the gas laser tube, each of the optical elements including a washer-shaped ceramic flange and a terminating plate being transparent to laser radiation and thermally matched to the ceramic flange, the ceramic flange having an outer rim joined to the gas laser tube and a central beam passage opening formed therein, and the terminating plate having two base surfaces, and glass solder connecting the terminating plate to the ceramic flange with the terminating plate covering the beam passage opening and projecting beyond the ceramic flange with at least one of the base surfaces thereof and a method of manufacturing the same.

摘要： A dispenser cathode such as a metal capillary cathode for electrical discharge devices which has a hollow cylindrical head portion 1 which carries a porous emission wafer 3 of a refractive material at its upper end and covers a cathode cartridge 2 which contains an active material supply 4 and comprises an epoxy helical heater 5 surrounded by a metal sleeve 6. Two part division of the structure allows separate testing possibility of the emission wafer and the heater/supply cartridge and also allows an improvement in the heat transmission from the heater to the emission wafer. For this purpose, a hollow cylindrical head portion 1 is conically-shaped and expands outwardly toward the cathode cartridge 2 and the upper part of the cathode cartridge 2 is conically tapered so as to mate with the hollow cylindrical head portion and the two portions are connected together wherein their conical side walls are attached by welding in the upper portion of the drawn up metal sleeve. The dispenser cathode can be used in travelling wave tubes for example.

摘要： In an ion laser having a discharge channel extending through a ceramic tube, a coil of thermal conductive material is placed around the ceramic tube and the tube and coil combination are inserted into a bore of a heat eliminating device. The tube, coil, and heat eliminating device are soldered to one another so as to provide clearance between individual turns of the coil, thereby providing good cooling characteristics and enhanced power of the laser without risk of breakage of the ceramic tube.

摘要： A transversely excited gas laser, includes: an elongated gas-filled discharge chamber having an optical axis; a main cathode electrode and a main anode electrode extended along the optical axis in the discharge chamber defining a main discharge space between the main cathode and the main anode electrodes through which the optical axis extends, the main electrodes bordering two sides of the main discharge space leaving two other sides open; two pairs of auxiliary electrodes each being extended parallel to the optical axis in vicinity of a respective one of the open sides of the main discharge space and mutually spaced apart by a given distance, each of the auxiliary electrodes including a conductor and a dielectric shell surrounding the conductor, each of the auxiliary electrodes being spaced from all of the other electrodes by a set breakdown distance; and a driving unit connected to the electrodes, the driving unit supplying different potentials to the main cathode and main anode electrodes producing a main electric discharge therebetween during operation of the gas laser, and the driving unit supplying different potentials to the pairs of auxiliary electrodes causing a corona discharge preionizing the gas in the main discharge space to take place therebetween across the given distance during operation of the gas laser.
