    摘要: A pneumatic sensor is provided for detecting and indicating the tension in running strand material, such as yarn, wire and the like. A source of compressed air is connected to an air escape nozzle having an outlet opening in one end thereof and a closing member is supported adjacent the outlet opening and is normally spaced a predetermined distance from the outlet opening to regulate and partially restrict the escape of air therefrom. The strand engages the closing member and varies the space or gap between the closing member and the nozzle outlet in accordance with the amount of tension in the strand. A pressure gauge is provided for indicating the amount of air pressure in the pneumatic pressure system and for thereby indicating the amount of tension in the running strand. A pressure/electric transducer is operable by the pneumatic pressure system and may operate a control system for a variable speed motor in a yarn take-up system to vary the takeup rate to maintain a predetermined tension on the yarn being taken up. The variation in air pressure in the pneumatic pressure system may also be utilized to operate a pneumatic cylinder for varying the braking force applied to a wire let-off beam in an unwinding operation so that the tension in the wire is maintained within a predetermined tension range.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for producing a ribbon free randomly wound yarn package is disclosed, and wherein a plurality of critical winding ratios at which undesirable pattern formations or ribbons would normally occur are determined and stored in a microprocessor control unit. During the winding operation, the spindle speed and traversing frequency are monitored by sensors and are transmitted to the control unit, and the control unit computes the optimum time for rapidly changing the traversing frequency so that the actual winding ratio moves rapidly through each of the approaching critical winding ratios. The original traversing frequency is re-established after having passed beyond each of the critical winding ratios.

    摘要: High-speed cross-winding apparatus with two traverse motion devices for winding elongated materials, especially continuous filaments, into packages and embodying a reciprocable thread guide as a first traversing device, and a second traversing device in the form of a roller with spiral, thread-guiding grooves, the first and second traverse motion devices being driven synchronously, and a drive roller for driving the package being driven independently thereof. The grooves of the latter traverse roller have variable depth for winding tension uniformity, and may also temporarily accelerate stroke velocity above the stroke velocity of the first traverse device immediately before and/or after stroke reversal. The groove depth increases from the middle of the roller to a maximum depth preceding the stroke reversal point and then either (a) immediately and continuously decreases in depth or (b) immediately decreases, then increases and then again decreases in depth.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for winding a textile yarn into a cross-wound package is disclosed, in which the yarn is wound about the package at a substantially constant rate while the yarn is guided onto the package by a traversing guide. In order to avoid the formation of ribbons on the package, the traversing frequency of the yarn guide is periodically varied by shortening the stroke of the traversing yarn guide while maintaining an unchanged traversing speed of the traversing yarn guide. The avoidance of the formation of ribbons is also accomplished by varying the traversing speed of the traversing yarn guide during the times in which the traversing frequency of the traversing yarn guide is unchanged. Stops are provided for controlling the length of back-and-forth movement of the traversing yarn guide and the stops can be moved inwardly and outwardly to provide the required stroke modification of the traversing guide. Several specific embodiments of the yarn traversing apparatus are disclosed, and wherein the traversing apparatus includes gripper means mounted on a slide which is positioned between parallel runs of a drive belt, and control means for moving the gripper means to alternately engage the two runs of the belt and thus reciprocate the slide.

    摘要: A yarn handling apparatus is disclosed for a textile yarn winding machine of the type having a plurality of side by side winding positions extending along the length of the machine. An embodiment is also disclosed wherein the winding machine includes a draw roll system, and there is further provided a movable yarn suction means for threading the advancing yarn about the draw roll system so that the yarn is helically disposed about groups of the draw rolls.
