摘要： An adjustable telescopic steering column for motor vehicles has at least one longitudinally adjustable telescopic section which is held in an adjusted position by a locking device. In the event of a crash, the telescopic section is acted upon by an additional holding force by way of a locking part. The locking part is a component which operates independently of the locking device for the adjusted position and, in the operative position, is applied with a frictional connection to the longitudinally adjustable telescopic section.

In order subsequently to allow slackening of the air bag, a kidney-shaped or crescent shaped zone of the air bag cover, which is arranged at a greater distance from and approximately centrally to a central region of the air bag facing the occupant, is produced from gas-permeable fabric. Due to the specified shape and arrangement of this zone, the necessary load-bearing capacity of the air bag remains guaranteed.

摘要： A forward structure of a motor vehicle has a cross member which connects the two A-columns with one another and which is used for fixing a steering column and a knee restraint. A strut is fixed on the forward structure and extends from the cross member to a transmission tunnel extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. At least two mutually overlapping strut sections of the strut have a connection area which, under a load during a crash and after overcoming a force threshold, can be elongated in a longitudinal direction while absorbing energy. A force limiting device is provided in the connection area of the strut sections in the force transmission path. Consequently, after the force threshold is exceeded, an energy reduction is achieved during a predetermined lengthening path of the connecting strut and at a constant force level so that a yielding of the impact-loaded knee restraint together with the cross member takes place with a force-limited resistance along a predetermined path distance.

摘要： A joint is disclosed for the swivel bearing of a casing tube of an inclination-adjustable steering column on a casing tube suspension, having a joint head which is held between laterally surrounding fork legs, coaxial passage bores in the surrounding fork legs from which a longitudinal section of a bearing axle projects into an opposite fitted seat of the joint head, and two bearing bushes which surround the projecting longitudinal section of their bearing axle and which are conically constructed on their outer circumference and engage in their associated, fittingly conical fitted seat. An axial loading of the bearing bushes tapering toward one another is by way of a screwed advance of their bearing axle by means of which the bearing bushes are pressed without play into their fitted seat. In order to permit a lower-cost manufacturing of the joint, both fitted seats of the joint head are arranged in the end area of a cylindrical bore which is widened by means of a chamfer to form a fitted seat, and the bearing bushes have a basic cylindrical shape and engage by means of a conically slanted end area into the assigned fitted seat of their bore, their end area being constructed to be radially flexible.

摘要： Collision-protection devices for vehicle passengers, are disclosed which include a gas cushion which is connected to a gas generator and inflates under sensor control in the event of an accident and hence protects the body of a vehicle passenger from a collision causing injury, e.g., against the instrument panel or windscreen. The gas cushion has, in this instance, one or more escape openings. According to the invention, the escape opening points towards an open cover flap when the gas cushion is inflated, which cover flap, in the closed state, covers the folded-up gas cushion. Only once a predetermined pressure has been exceeded does the cover flap free the escape opening to enable gas to be discharged in an escape flow distributed over an area of the gas cushion surface.

As a protection against impact, there is a plastically deformable cup-like deformation member within the steering wheel that absorbs energy due to an impact of a driver of the motor vehicle on the steering wheel. Spokes are constructed in such a manner that the contribute to the energy absorption by a performance of deformation work. The deformation member has a height which is less than a distance between the hub and the plane of the steering wheel rim. The deformation member is fixedly connected in its upper region with the respective spokes.
