    摘要: An intake assembly with an optimal noise level, especially an intake duct for use as the manifold of an internal combustion engine. The noise level is optimized by introducing shunt resonators (16, 18) in collecting manifold of the intake duct, which is produced using a multi-shell technique. The inserted structures (16, 18) can be adhered or welded before the shells are joined, or they can be inserted in a preexisting duct formed of previously joined half shells. The shunt resonators (16, 18) require little space and can also be used for subsequently optimizing the intake ducts in the test phase, if the initial test results are acoustically unsatisfactory.

    摘要: An intake air temperature control device for mixture-compressing internal combustion engines having an inlet flapper proportioning the flows of cold and preheated raw air into a duct junction and into raw air mixing duct, the flapper-adjusting wax thermostat being arranged inside a thermostat chamber into which branch flows of cold and preheated raw air are admitted through two calibrated branch inlets. A narrow annular gap through which the combined branch flows must pass assures an integrated response of the thermostat to changing temperatures and air intake speeds. A lost-motion drive connection and a biasing member produce a full-load correction of the adjusted temperature. The flapper drive members may have valve edges which cooperate with the calibrated branch inlets to open and close the latter.

This condition is suitable, particularly at low engine rotational speeds, to dampen the air intake noise of the internal combustion engine. When the throttle valve is positioned perpendicular to the direction of air flow through the duct, sound waves in the air intake duct of the internal combustion engine are reflected back toward the engine, and in this way an economical possibility for influencing the air intake noise results which also can be utilized to design a desired noise profile for the engine.

This intake system 10 has a raw air inlet 11, a raw air duct 12, a filter housing 13, a filter element 14, a clean air outlet 15, a clean air duct 16 and an intake air manifold 17. The filter element 14 is placed in the filter housing 13 such that the air which flows from the raw air inlet 11 through the raw air duct 12 into the filter housing 13, must pass through the filter element 14 before it reaches the clean air duct 16 to the intake air manifold 17. The filter element 14 also has a curvature by which it at least partially follows the contour of a battery box wall 18 of an adjacent battery box 19. The filter element 14 can be made curved or in multiple parts.

Openings located in the parting seam or joint (16) between the shells (14) are produced by recesses in the half shells. These openings each have a cross-sectional area of less than 7 mm2 and are useful for suppressing noise resulting from the air intake. As a result of the openings, vibration-inducing forces exerted on adjacent components in the engine compartment due to pulsations in the intake tube, can be minimized or avoided.
