摘要： A large number of liquid crystal display devices is formed on a single plane, each of the liquid crystal display devices being formed by arranging liquid crystal between transparent substrates which allow light from a light source to pass through. Display portions of the respective liquid crystal display devices are covered by a masking member (23) and a light guide which is formed of light guide devices, one or more of which being provided for each of said liquid crystal display devices, and junctions between the liquid crystal display devices are also covered by the light guide. With this structure, when the light guides are formed such that the junctions between the plurality of liquid crystal display devices are also covered, lattice-like non-display lines do not appear, thereby providing substantially visually uniform brightness throughout the entire screen of the large-sized liquid crystal display and improving the entire image.

摘要： An image reader feeds a document to read document information at a still position from below a glass platen. The image reader is configured to include a document feeder unit feeding a document in a predetermined direction, a glass platen provided below the document feeder unit, an illumination unit provided on or above the glass platen and including a surface light source which is long in a direction orthogonal to the predetermined direction and illuminates the document, and a document reader unit reading document information at a still position from below the glass platen. Such an image reader can illuminate documents efficiently with less electric power and achieve thinning of the illumination unit.

The four terminal electrodes touch part of end faces of the upper conductor layer, and part of the top surface of the upper conductor layer contiguous to the end faces. The protection film has four concave portions, each of which has a shape that is recessed inward from the edge of the protection film except portions thereof corresponding to these concave portions. The four concave portions expose respective portions of the top surface of the upper conductor layer that touch the four terminal electrodes. The four concave portions accommodate respective portions of the four terminal electrodes.
