A gap 11 between a flange 4A of a bail support member 4 and the inner circumferential surface of a sleeve member 7 functions as an orifice for restricting an oil flow downstream of a seat hole (6B). The movement of the ball support member 4 is stabilized, pressure is generated in a chamber 9 downstream of a seat hole 6B, and the override characteristics of the relief valve 1 are improved.

A solenoid actuator (1) attached to hydraulic equipment comprises a shaft (5) connected to the hydraulic equipment, a plunger (4) fixed to the shaft (5), a coil (12) which magnetically drives the plunger (4), and a first bearing (7) and a second bearing (8) supporting the shaft (5) on either sides of the plunger (4). A plunger front chamber (74) is formed between the first bearing (7) and the plunger (4), and a plunger rear chamber (75) is formed between the plunger (4) and the second bearing (8). By providing a plunger exterior oil passage (63) on the outside of the plunger (4) to connect the plunger front chamber (74) to the plunger rear chamber (75), working oil flows through the plunger exterior oil passage (63) every time the plunger (4) strokes, thereby preventing a deposit of contaminant on the plunger (4) without increasing a stroke resistance of the plunger (4).

Provided are a hydraulic pump 7, an electromagnetic flow rate control valve 2 that controls the flow rate of hydraulic oil supplied from the hydraulic pump 7 to a power steering device PS, and a pressure compensating valve 4 that maintains a fixed pressure difference between upstream and downstream sides of the electromagnetic flow rate control valve 2 and bypasses an excess flow rate. The electromagnetic flow rate control valve 2 maintains a predetermined initial opening when a control current is zero, while an opening of the electromagnetic flow rate control valve decreases to become a minimum opening when the control current increases from zero, and the opening gradually becomes larger toward a maximum opening when a predetermined control current is exceeded.

An active suspension system is provided with a pressure accumulator connected to a drain line connecting a drain port of a pressure control valve which controls pressure in the working chamber of an active cylinder. The pressure accumulator serves to absorb high pressure surge. A surge pressure absorbing unit is provided for feeding back the surge pressure generated in the drain line to the pressure accumulator via a supply line so that the surge pressure can be successfully absorbed by the pressure accumulator.

Optical instrument for measuring displacement comprising a movable diffraction grating used as a scale, a semiconductor laser device, photodetectors, and means for making two light beams diffracted by the diffraction grating interfere with each other in which displacement of said diffraction grating is measured, based on variations of interference signals. The laser device has a suitable coherency for making selectively two necessary light beams with equal optical path lengths interfere with each other.

A solenoid actuator (1) comprises a case (9) made of a magnetic material and housing a coil (12) wound on a bobbin (11), and a pressure tube (17) made of a non-magnetic material and fitted into a hollow portion of the bobbin (11). A base (2) and a sleeve (3) made of a magnetic material are disposed in the pressure tube (17). A plunger (4) provided in an operation chamber (74, 75) formed in the base (2) and the sleeve (3) strokes according to energization of the coil (12) to axially drive a shaft (5) fixed to the plunger (4). The pressure tube (17) ensures that magnetic flux is transferred between the case (9) and the sleeve (3) while preventing pressure variation in the operation chamber (74, 75) from being transmitted to the bobbin (11), thereby achieving a high response and a pressure tightness in the solenoid actuator (1).

An electromagnetic proportional flow rate control valve capable of performing precise flow rate control in a low flow rate side of an operating region is provided. In an electromagnetic proportional flow rate control valve 32, in which a valve member 2 is driven in a valve closing direction in accordance with the increase in a driving current I of a solenoid coil 15, a solenoid driving force F is set such that it decreases accompanying the displacement of the valve member 2 in the valve closing direction with respect to an identical driving current in the solenoid coil 15. Thus, an amount of change in an area of a valve opening with respect to unit changes in the driving current I becomes smaller in a region at which the stroke is small compared to a case of having flat characteristics, whereby the flow rate control precision in the low flow rate region can be improved.

A throttle valve control device for controlling the amount of inlet air fed to an internal combustion engine has a throttle valve disposed in an air intake passage, a throttle shaft integrally connected with the throttle valve so as to rotate with the throttle valve in a body, a driving source for generating driving torque, and a driving torque transmitting mechanism disposed between the driving source and the throttle shaft for transmitting the driving torque to the throttle shaft. The driving torque transmitting mechanism includes a torque limiting mechanism for limiting the transmitted driving torque to a predetermined level.

A reflection type hologram scale, in which a hologram dry plate is bonded to a protecting base member in which a hologram grating formed on a scale base member forming the hologram dry plate and a reflecting film formed on a base member forming the protecting base member are opposed to each other. Therefore, the hologram grating and the reflecting film are both protected by the scale base member and the base member so that the hologram grating and the reflecting film are prevented from being exposed to the air, thereby preventing the hologram grating and the reflecting film from being smudged by fingermarks, dust and also from being scratched.
