摘要： In a continuously variable transmission, a hydraulic actuator for axially moving a movable sheave has an outer cylinder which includes a radial portion extending radially from a boss on the stationary sheave. A bearing is disposed abutting the surface of the radial portion. The inner race of the bearing has a large diameter so that the inner race contacts at least a predetermined area of the surface of the radial portion, preferably, the entire area of that surface. One side of the inner race has a recess in which a nut for axially fixing the outer cylinder, the bearing and the like is disposed, thereby reducing the axial dimension of the continuously variable transmission.

The zirconia sintered body contains partially-stabilized zirconia as a matrix phase and contains at least one element from among phosphorus (P), arsenic (As), antimony (Sb), and bismuth (Bi). The content of the abovementioned element(s) in the zirconia sintered body ranges from 4×10−4 mol to 4×10−2 mol with respect to 1 mol of zirconium(IV) oxide. Preferably, the zirconia sintered body further contains 0.03% to 3% by mass of silicon dioxide.

摘要： An arpeggio playing apparatus comprises a musical tone signal generating device including a plurality of arpeggio playing parts, or an automatic music playing device and at least one arpeggio playing part. The arpeggio playing part is capable of playing an automatic arpeggio with an arpeggio pattern at a progression tempo. Under the condition that one of the arpeggio playing parts or the automatic music playing device has started playing an automatic arpeggio or an automatic music performance at the progression tempo which defines a synchronization timing consisting of periodically aligned synchronization grids, when a start instruction for a new arpeggio playing part is received, the new arpeggio playing part starts the operation in synchronism with the defined synchronization timing. If the start instruction comes at a time point within a delay margin, the arpeggio playing is started immediately and the first span of the arpeggio pattern is played in a shortened time length between the start instruction and the first coming synchronization grid. If the start instruction comes at a time point outside the delay margin, the start of the arpeggio playing is suspended until the first coming synchronization grid.

A CPU prepares pieces of performance pattern information by storing the pieces of phrase-discriminating information into the performance pattern memory in a sequence of performance of the pieces of phrase performance information, according to operation by an operator, and imparts to the prepared pieces of performance pattern information as many pieces of pattern-discriminating information. Pieces of performance pattern information are designated by means of the pattern-discriminating information. Then, the CPU reads out pieces of phrase-discriminating information for phrases of the designated pieces of performance pattern information in the performance sequence from the performance pattern memory, and reads out pieces of phrase performance information corresponding to the read-out pieces of phrase-discriminating information, to give automatic performance based on the read-out pieces of phrase performance information. A chord of any of the pieces of phrase performance information to be set in performance thereof can be designated, and the CPU changes a note of the read-out phrase performance information according to the designated chord.

摘要： A vehicle has a rotary magnetic field member which is rotatably supported at a position near the surface of a roadway along which the vehicle runs and rotatingly driven by a driving device. The rotary magnetic field member has magnetic poles of different polarities alternately arranged around its circumference. The vehicle also has an electrical power collector for receiving electrical power from an electrical power supply associated with the roadway. The received electrical power is supplied under the control of a controller to the driving device thereby rotatably driving the rotary magnetic field member. The rotary magnetic field member when rotated relative to the roadway made of an electrically conductive non-magnetic material, forms a varying magnetic field in cooperation with the roadway, thereby generating propulsion force for propelling the vehicle and force for suspending the vehicle, so that the vehicle is propelled in a floating state. It is therefore possible to reduce friction between wheels of the vehicle and the roadway and, hence, to suppress wear of the wheels. In a high-speed transportation system of the invention, the electrical power collector picks up electrical power from the electrical power supply and the rotary magnetic field member is rotatingly driven by the power picked up by the electrical power collector.
