摘要:
A steel having good wear resistance which contains 0.55-1.10% of C, up to 2.0% of Si, up to 2.0% of Mn, 12.0-25.0% of Cr and particularly suitable as a material for piston rings or rocker arms. Further addition of 0.05-1.10% of Al to the above steel gives a steel improved in properties for spheroidization of carbides and uniformization of carbide particle size, leading to further enhancement of wear resistance. If required 0.20-2.0% of Ni may be added to the steels, whereby corrosion resistance, toughness and hardenability are improved. An addition of at least one of 0.2-3.0% of Mo, 0.1-1.5% of V and 0.05-0.70% of Nb to the steels improves high-temperature strength and surface hardness. The steel is surface treated by gas nitriding of the like in a surface area for sliding contact with an opponent member.

When soldering a honeycomb body formed by alternately piling flat foils (plates) and corrugated foils (plates), a binder liquid is sucked up from the end face of tile honeycomb body to form a binder streak in a space defined by contacting portions of the flat foil (plate) and corrugated foil (plate), a solder is scattered and applied onto the binder streak, and the honeycomb body is then dried and heated to effect a soldering of the honeycomb body. According to this method, soldering can be accomplished only in the vicinity of the contacting portions of the flat foil (plate) and corrugated foil (plate), with a desired soldering structure.

An exhaust gas purifying catalyst of this invention comprises a heat resistance stainless steel catalyst support, an oxide film containing zirconium oxide formed on the heat resistance stainless steel catalyst support, an activated alumina catalyst carrier layer formed on the oxide film, and at least one metal catalyst loaded in the activated alumina catalyst carrier layer. Thus, the activated alumina catalyst carrier layer's come-off from the catalyst support and the oxidation of the catalyst support are suppressed at the same time, and the conversions of the hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are also improved.

摘要:
A metallic carrier composed of an end face portion formed in at least one of the axial end portions of a honeycomb body and an outer circumferential reinforcing layer in which foils in a range from the outermost layer to a quarter of the total number of layers are joined together in the axial intermediate portion. Thus, the metallic carrier is flexible in expansion and shrinkage. Further, the honeycomb body and a jacket are joined to each other mainly at the outer circumference of the outer circumferential reinforcing layer of the honeycomb body, to reduce thermal stress developed between the honeycomb body and jacket while maintaining the strength against a high temperature, to thereby prevent the metallic carrier from being ruptured.
