    摘要: A movable particle display (such as an electrophoretic display) in which a plurality of closed spaces are two-dimensionally disposed along a surface of the substrate, a plurality of particles contained in each of the closed spaces, and a reflection surface for reflecting light which enters each of the closed particles are moved inside a closed space, between a position at which they cover a reflecting surface and a position at which they are collected to expose the reflecting surface. At least a part of the reflecting surface diffusely reflects incident light with an intensity distribution having directional properties (i.e. non-isotropically). The intensity of the diffusely reflected light has an angular distribution such that: (1) the amount of light reflected toward the position at which the particles are collected is smaller than in the case when the distribution of diffusely reflected light is isotropic, and (2) the amount of light reflected away from the position at which the particles are collected is larger than that of light reflected towards that position.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a configuration of a display element and forms switching circuits or peripheral circuits for driving pixels by transferring/disposing a semiconductor circuit formed on another substrate and disposes high performance transistors on the display substrate. The present invention also relates to a process of forming a circuit having switching elements for driving pixels and peripheral circuits for sending drive signals thereto on the substrate of the display element. A separation layer is formed on a second substrate and a semiconductor film is formed thereon. This semiconductor film having predetermined semiconductor circuits formed therein is bonded to the substrate of the display element and then electrical connection with a wire on the substrate is effected.

    摘要: A color display apparatus is of the type wherein a unit pixel is constituted by at least three subpixels including first to third subpixels, and at each subpixel, a medium for changing an optical property depending on a voltage applied thereto is disposed. The color display apparatus includes means for applying a voltage, to each of the first to third subpixels, for changing the optical property of the medium within a brightness change range in which light passing through the medium is changed in brightness and a hue change range in which the light passing through the medium assumes chromatic color and a hue of the chromatic color is changed while including combinations of red and green, red and blue, and green and blue for the first to third subpixels, respectively.

    摘要: A display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate disposed opposite to each other, and a display medium including an insulating liquid and electrophoretic colored particles dispersed therein and disposed between the first and second substrates. A first electrode and a second electrode are provided for applying a voltage to the display medium so as to move the colored particles between the first and second electrodes to effect a display depending on a voltage applied to the first and second electrodes. The electrophoretic colored particles are distributed uniformly without localization by incorporating the display medium in a plurality of light-transmissive tubes, and disposing and fixing the plurality of tubes in intimate contact with each other between the first and second substrates.
