摘要:
The disclosure relates to the use of subcutaneous illumination during phlebectomy procedures, and to devices and methods for performing hook phlebectomy while visualizing veins and surrounding tissue using light emitted subcutaneously and beneath the surgical area. An apparatus comprises, in one embodiment, a handle, an illuminator portion extending distally from the handle, the illuminator portion comprising an elongate member configured for insertion into subcutaneous tissue, the illuminator portion comprising an elongate electroluminescent device extending along the illuminator portion, the electroluminescent device being configured to generate and emit light primarily in a generally radial direction, outward and away from a longitudinal axis of the illuminator portion. Furthermore, a phlebectomy hook is provided that comprises, in one embodiment, a shaft, a bend extending generally laterally from the shaft, the bend terminating in a tip of the phlebectomy hook, and an illuminator, the illuminator configured to propagate a visible light beam near the bend, generally outward relative to a longitudinal axis of the shaft.

A working end of a catheter includes at least one therapeutic element, such as a resistive heating element, usable to deliver energy for ligating, or reducing the diameter of, a hollow anatomical structure. In certain examples, the catheter includes a lumen to accommodate a guide wire or to allow fluid delivery. In certain embodiments, a balloon is inflated to place resistive element(s) into apposition with a hollow anatomical structure and to occlude the structure. Indexing devices and methods are also disclosed for successively treating portions of the hollow anatomical structure. In certain examples, marks along the catheter shaft provide visual verification to the physician of the relative position of the therapeutic element of the catheter. Embodiments of indexing devices may include pairs of rings and/or hinged arms that move a catheter a desired indexed position between successive treatments.

In one embodiment of the invention, photo-chromic and phosphorescent toys are disclosed. A photo-chromic and phosphorescent toy includes both photo-chromic and phosphorescent materials applied to the toy such as through an ink, paint, plastic, or dye. The photo-chromic and phosphorescent materials may be supplied within a material of the toy or applied-to a surface of the toy at the factory. The photo-chromic and phosphorescent materials may be activated in various ways with various light activating devices that can generate an activating light with appropriate wavelengths.

Disclosed herein is a guidewire migration controller for use with catheter devices such as atherectomy catheters. The guidewire migration controller includes a housing, a gripper insertable in the housing and a locking member. The locking member holds the gripper within the housing. The gripper has an opening for receiving a guidewire. The gripper permits the guidewire to rotate and holds the guidewire to control guidewire migration.

A device combining a gun and target for facilitating a game of tag using infrared light communications between a two or more players is provided. The device includes two infrared transmitters and two infrared receivers and a shaped housing facilitating handling of the device by a user. The housing includes a grip portion with a finger-operable trigger, a barrel portion and a user-interface including a display and a keypad for programming the device and controlling various game and device functions. A first infrared transmitter transmits a directional infrared signal to another game participant and a first infrared receiver receives an acknowledgment signal therefrom in response to the transmitted directional signal. A second infrared transmitter and second infrared receiver facilitate omni-directional two-way communications between two or more devices before, during, and after a game of infrared electronic tag allowing functions such as game setup, player identification and gameplay analysis. An accessory device for single player video game play using the gun as a controller is also provided.

A ballnut assembly is provided in which a locknut (20), which is normally unloaded becomes loaded in the event of failure of a primary load path. This loading causes relative motion between locking nut (24) and the threads of a shaft (8) such that on clearance there between is eliminated. This causes frictional forces to initiate a lock-up of the locknut.

Disclosed herein is an intravascular universal catheter having interchangeable work elements and methods of use thereof. The catheter comprises a flexible catheter body having a distal end, a proximal end and a lumen extending between the ends. A housing having an open interior and an aperture on a lateral side is attached to the distal end of the catheter body by a coupling element. A work element is movably disposed within the housing and operative through the aperture. A work element connector is disposed in a lumen of the catheter body and has a distal end connected to the work element. At least the distal portion of the lumen defines a receiving space within the catheter body, and the coupling element is configured to allow retraction of the work element from the housing through the open proximal end into the receiving space. In a preferred embodiment, perfusion ports are disposed in the catheter body and the housing proximate to the junctional region of the catheter body with the housing. The perfilsion ports are in communication with the lumen. The work element may be withdrawn from the housing proximal to the perfusion ports to allow blood to flow into the housing and bypass the work element for perfusion of tissue downstream. Preferably, the lumen is configured to allow the work element to be completely withdrawn from the catheter body, so as to permit interchange of various work elements.
