Abstract: A motor vehicle having a front end, a pair of opposing front wheel wells rearward of the front end, and an air guide duct having at least one air inlet disposed forward of the front wheel wells and facing the front end of the motor vehicle. The air guide duct also has at least one air outlet opening into at least one of the front wheel wells such that incoming air from the front end of the motor vehicle is guided into at least one of the front wheel wells.

Abstract: Embodiments of an upper body heat exchanger for a vehicle. In one embodiment, an upper body heat exchanger includes a first portion having a plurality of fins disposed on a first surface. The upper body heat exchanger also includes a second portion having a plurality of heat transfer fluid passages disposed on a second surface of the upper body heat exchanger. The second portion is beneath the first portion. The upper body heat exchanger is mounted on the vehicle such that the first surface of the first portion of the upper body heat exchanger is exposed. The plurality of heat transfer fluid passages are configured to transfer heat from heated fluid flowing through the plurality of heat transfer fluid passages to airflows interacting with the plurality of fins as the vehicle is moving.

Abstract: Embodiments of a surface heat exchanger for a vehicle are described. In one embodiment, a surface heat exchanger includes a plurality of fins on a first outer surface The surface heat exchanger is mounted within an interior of a duct of a vehicle. An inlet of the duct is located on a side of the vehicle forward of a rear axle of the vehicle and an outlet of the duct is located rearward of the inlet. The plurality of fins of the surface heat exchanger are exposed to the interior of the duct. The plurality of fins are configured to transfer heat to airflows interacting with the plurality of fins as the airflows pass through the duct.

Abstract: A vehicle heat transfer system includes a flow through heat exchanger, a surface heat exchanger, at least a first vehicle component, and a controller that is operable to selectively transfer heat to or from the first vehicle component with either or both of the flow through heat exchanger and the surface heat exchanger based on one or more operating conditions. In a further aspect, a vehicle heat transfer system includes, a vehicle component positioned on a vehicle that is heated or cooled by a fluid, and a surface heat exchanger positioned on the vehicle, the surface heat exchanger having an inlet that receives the fluid used to heat or cool the vehicle component, an outlet that returns the fluid to heat or cool the vehicle component, and a closed fluid path extending between the inlet and the outlet.
