摘要: A peristaltic pump is provided that simplifies the loading of tubing and automatically self-centers the tubing relative to the pump wheel, wherein the pump includes an elongated arm having slotted pinch forks for engaging the tubing. The pinch forks are arranged substantially tangential to the pump wheel to reduce tubing kinking. The pump further includes a spring-loaded clamp that moves the elongated arm between engaged and disengaged positions, the clamp optionally including a sensor element used to detect when the pump is ready for operation.

摘要: The invention comprises a method and apparatus for treatment of a body part. More particularly, a method and apparatus for heat treatment of tissue using a catheter inserted into a body part is described along with means for positioning the catheter and means for positioning a set of electrodes relative to a tissue sample for treatment. Still more particularly, radio frequency energy at about 400 to 500 kilohertz is used to provide heat for the tissue treatment.

摘要: The combination of a pressure control and a catheter including an elongate member, a sensor mounted on the catheter and adapted to be placed in pressure engagement with tissue for sensing signals resulting from physiological phenomena and an expandable member mounted on the elongate member for maintaining the sensor in contact with the tissue. A pressure source is connected to the expandable member for maintaining the expandable member inflated and a pressure controller coupled to the expandable member for maintaining the contact pressure between the sensor and the tissue within preselected limits.

摘要: A probe system for removable attachment to a patient in which the probe containing light emitter and detector elements is separable from a fastener for securing the probe to the skin of a patient to enable the fastener to be discarded and the probe reused. Apertures in the fastener complementary to the probe housings enable secure stabilization of the probe system on the skin and maintain a fixed relationship between the light emitter and detector elements.
