Disclosed is a casting resin based on acrylic acid esters having a high content of finely dispersed fillers and containing a mixture of organosilicon compounds having functional groups and metallic acid esters of metals of Groups IVB and VB of the Periodic Table of the Elements. The functional group of the organosilicon compound is ethylenically unsaturated and bound to the silicon atom either directly or through alkylene groups. The addition of this mixture to the casing resins produces a desirable reduction of the viscosity of these resins, which are used, for example, for the manufacture of sanitary articles.The filler content is at least 20% and can be as high as 95% with the proviso that when the filler content is in excess of 80 wt. -%, the filler contains 10 to 30 wt. -%, based on the total weight of filler, of fines having a particle size less than 0.1 mm and the remainder of the filler being coarse up to 4 mm.

The invention relates to a process for preparing N,N'-disubstituted p-quinonediimines of general formula I ##STR1## wherein a corresponding N,N'-disubstituted p-phenylenediamine is oxidized in alkaline/alcoholic solution, and also their use. The invention further provides organosilanes containing methacryloxy or acryloxy groups and having general formula II ##STR2## where R.sup.3 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are identical or different alkyl groups having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and m is equal to 0 or 1 or 2, which organosilanes contain N,N'-disubstituted p-quinonediimines. Processes for preparing and stabilizing organosilanes of general formula II are described.

The present invention relates to water-containing solutions of acrylic-functionalized organosilanes of the general formula I ##STR1## in which R is a methyl or ethyl group, having a starting-material concentration of organosilane of between 10 and 80% by weight. The present invention additionally relates to a process for the preparation of such water-containing solutions of acrylic-functionalized organosilanes and to their use, inter alia for coatings, surfaces or intermediate layers, which are obtainable by applying organosilane-containing compounds from a solution to a surface and by crosslinking by means of UV light.
