Each pin (22) includes a contact portion (24) for engaging with a complementary contact of a receptacle connector portion of the future bus, a retaining portion (26) having an embossed retention mechanism (29) formed thereon for interferentially engaging with inner walls (17) of the passageways (20) of the housing (12), and a tail portion (30) having an eye (32) of the needle engagement feature for reception in a corresponding hole defined in a PCB. The retention mechanism (29) includes two projections (27, 28), wherein one projection (27) is ramp-shaped and the other projection is either a partial sphere or a partial cylinder (28). The pins (22) are inserted into the passageways (20) so that the projections (27, 28) exert a force perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the housing (12) on an inner wall (17) of each corresponding passageway (20).

The present invention provides a contact which facilitates proper insertion into a housing of an electrical connector without deflection of the contact after configuration. The contact of the electrical connector comprises a main plate having a central flat portion and two bent sides projecting therefrom and facing each other. A mating terminal includes two clamping branches respectively extending from the bent sides of the main plate along a longitudinal axis of the main plate. A compliant pin extends from one end of the central flat portion of the main plate opposite the extending direction of the mating terminal and is substantially right angled at an intermediate portion thereof. A tail terminates from the compliant pin and defines a hole therein for engagement with a hole of a circuit board. A curved shoulder is formed near the tail for facilitating insertion of the tail into the hole of the printed circuit board. The curved shoulder fits within the housing if the connector when the contact is assembled in the housing.

A board adapter for electrically connecting an electrical card connector to a mother board, comprises 68 signal holes, 100 conductive pads, a plurality of signal traces, a first grounding means, a transforming unit and a second grounding contact. The first grounding contact surrounds the signal holes and is electrically connected with a corresponding grounding contact of the electrical connector, for providing the signal holes and the electrical connector with grounding protection. The second grounding contact is alternately juxtaposed with every two of the signal traces for providing grounding protection. The conductive pads are electrically connected with either the signal traces or the grounding contacts. The transforming unit includes two power traces to separately bear two different strength voltage induced currents. When either of the traces bears a corresponding voltage induced current, the other trace can be transformed into a grounding trace to protect the bearing trace.
