    摘要: A chain extending agent for reaction injection molding (RIM) comprising a normally liquid blend of butanediol and a toluene diamine mono-substituted with an electron withdrawing group and having the formula ##STR1## wherein X is vicinal to an amino radical and is selected from the group of halogen, CN, NO.sub.2, acyl, carboxylate and isomeric mixtures thereof, and wherein the butanediol and diamine are combined in a critical mole ratio of from 4:1 to about 19:1. The above blend is particularly useful in the preparation of large moldings of polyurethane-polyurea elastomer by the RIM or RRIM (reinforced reaction injection molding) process wherein instant preformed blend is added to a mixture of polyol reactant and catalyst before polymerization in the mold with isocyanate to produce a urethane/urea polymer product of improved properties. Accordingly, the invention also concerns an enhanced RIM or RRIM process and improved product by the use of a mixture of the present chain extender blend and polyol reactant maintainable in the liquid state at ambient temperature.

    摘要: An enhanced oil recovery method is provided utilizing an alkaline waterflood injection fluid including a water-soluble precipitation inhibitor such as a polyacrylate, an acrylate-containing copolymer, an organophosphonate, a carboxylate-containing organophosphonate or a polymaleic anhydride whereby divalent metal cations dissolved within the injection fluid or within the reservoir water in the immediate vicinity of the injection well are substantially prevented from precipitating. Additionally, the injection fluid preferably provides sufficient alkaline material whereby beyond the immediate vicinity of the injection well the permeability characteristics of the reservoir are modified by precipitation of, e.g., divalent metal hydroxides or divalent metal carbonates.

    摘要: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided herein improved glass fiber dispersions for making uniform glass fiber mats by the wet-laid process. The well dispersed glass fiber compositions of this invention usually are prepared by mixing chopped glass fibers in water with a small amount of a select group of cationic quaternary ammonium compounds which have at least two long chain groups as part of the molecule. As features of the invention, the dispersions may be formed at relatively high glass fiber consistencies, in neutral or slightly alkaline solutions, and without generation of a high degree of foams. The resultant dispersions then are used to make very high quality glass fiber mats at high rates of production.

    摘要: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided herein a method of increasing the strength of wet glass fiber mats prepared by the wet-laid process. The wet-strength of such freshly prepared glass fiber mats are improved in this invention by treating the wet mat with a dilute solution of an anionic surfactant. As a feature of the invention, the wet-strength of such mats are increased substantially so that they may be conveniently handled and transferred, even manually, for further processing, e.g. for applying binders and drying, into the finished glass fiber mat product.
