Abstract:
A dishwasher and a method for controlling the same, performing a main washing cycle depending upon an amount of food residue on used dishes or a pollution level thereof, are disclosed. The method includes supplying washing water to the dishwasher, detecting for an N number of times a pollution level of the supplied washing water during a preliminary washing cycle, and comparing the detected pollution levels with a reference pollution level, and carrying out a main washing cycle depending upon a comparison result between the detected pollution levels and the reference pollution level.
Abstract:
A controlling method of a dishwasher is provided. The method includes a selecting of a wash cycle and inputting of command settings by a user, starting operation of the dishwasher according to the selected cycle and driving a wash pump and discharge member, and controlling the dishwasher during the cycle to end the wash cycle with an upper arm operating.
Abstract:
A water leakage detecting device for effectively detecting water leakage and sensing malfunctions in the device is disclosed. The device includes a base retaining water leaked from a tub, a detector detecting whether leaked water is retained in the base, a first signal generator outputting a signal, when the detector detects the leaked water, a second signal generator outputting a signal, when the detector does not detect the leaked water, and a controller deciding whether to drain the leaked water and determining whether the water leakage detecting device has a malfunction.

Abstract:
A controlling method of a dishwasher is provided. The method includes performing various cycles according to a selected course, beginning a rinse cycle during the execution of the various cycles, controlling the operation of a heater and a wash pump according to whether the rinse cycle was specified as a hot rinse cycle, ending the operation of the wash pump upon completion of the rinse cycle, and performing subsequent cycles.
Abstract:
Prosthetic intervertebral discs and methods for using the same are described. The subject prosthetic discs include upper and lower endplates separated by a compressible core member. The prosthetic discs described herein include one-piece, two-piece, three-piece, and four-piece structures. The subject prosthetic discs exhibit stiffness in the vertical direction, torsional stiffness, bending stiffness in the saggital plane, and bending stiffness in the front plane, where the degree of these features can be controlled independently by adjusting the components of the discs. The interface mechanism between the endplates and the core members of several embodiments of the described prosthetic discs enables a very easy surgical operation for implantation.
Abstract:
A drying machine according to the present invention includes an interface unit connected to a separate washing machine with a data communication line for receiving load information from the washing machine, a rotatable drum containing a load of wet clothes which are previously washed by the washing machine, and an air supply system coupled to the drum for supplying dry air into the drum. The machine further includes a heater coupled to the air supply system for heating the dry air, and a dryer controller generating a control signal to the heater in accordance with a set of operation values which are determined based on the load information. A method of operating a drying machine according to the present invention includes the steps of receiving load information from a separate washing machine that performs wash/dehydration cycles on a load of clothes, determining a set of optimal operation values for operating a heater on the basis of the load information where the heater heats the dry air being supplied into a drum containing the load of wet clothes, and generating a control signal to the heater in accordance with the determined optional values.
Abstract:
A home appliance and a home appliance system are disclosed. Product information and status information of the home appliance are converted into at least one transmission acoustic signal, and a sound corresponding to the at least one transmission acoustic signal is output to the outside. The product information and status information are formed as a digital signal and stored in a storage device. The digital signal is encoded through a conversion device, and converted into at least one transmission acoustic signal. The at least one transmission acoustic signal is formed as an analog signal. Meanwhile, the at least one transmission acoustic signal can be dividedly formed.

Abstract:
A system and method for diagnosing a home appliance are disclosed. The home appliance outputs product information as a sound signal, and transmits the sound signal over a communication network, such that a service center of a remote site easily checks a status of the home appliance. The home appliance outputs the sound signal including a large amount of product information, and the diagnostic server of the service center diagnoses a status of the home appliance using a large amount of product information contained in the sound signal, such that it recognizes a detailed cause of a fault of the home appliance and greatly increases the diagnosis accuracy.
