One endplate includes an open flow passage that allows a working fluid to flow into or out of the media during operation. The other endplate includes a connection structure. A cover houses the filter element, and has an opening that is an inlet or outlet in fluid communication with the opening of the one endplate. The cover includes another fill opening proximate the other endplate. A cap is connected to the connection structure of the other endplate to close the opening of the cover. The cover is retained between the cap and other endplate. Generally, the attachment configuration between the cap and the other endplate of the filter element helps ensure that the filter element with the correct micron rating is installed in a filtration system.

    摘要: A fluid filter has a filter element disposed inside a housing having a generally open end. The filter element has media allowing a working fluid to be filtered therethrough. A nutplate connected to the housing at the generally open end has an end face with an inlet and outlet. The inlet allows the working fluid to enter the generally open end of the housing and access the media. The outlet allows filtered fluid to exit the generally open end of the housing. The end face includes inner and outer seals. The inner seal surrounds one of the inlet or the outlet and is between them. The outer seal surrounds the other of the inlet and outlet. The inner seal separates non-filtered fluid from filtered fluid. The outer seal separates the fluid from the external environment. A connection structure on an outer surface of the nutplate allows connection to other equipment.

    摘要: A dual stage filter includes an outer filter with a first media and an inner filter with a second media. A barrier is between the first media and the second media. The barrier directs fluid flow between the first and second media. The barrier creates a flow path between the first and second media, such that a working fluid, which is desired to pass through the first and second media, is directed by the barrier and flows through the second media, and such that another fluid, which is not desired to pass through the second media, is directed by the barrier and separates from the working fluid. Using the barrier, the dual stage filter can employ either or both upward flow and downward flow to achieve efficient fluid separation, for example fuel water separation in an engine fuel filter.
