摘要: An apparatus for dispensing a small amount of a viscous liquid material onto a substrate, the apparatus comprising a housing and piston positioned within the housing and having a lower surface and a flow bore extending therein, the flow bore having an inlet for receiving the viscous liquid material and an outlet. The apparatus further includes a compressible dispensing element positioned within the housing below and in liquid tight sealing engagement with the lower surface of the piston and having a passage extending therethrough, the passage having an inlet in liquid communication with the outlet of the flow bore and an outlet. The lower surface of the piston is capable of applying a force to compress the dispensing element causing the passage to at least partially close expelling a small amount of the viscous liquid material from the outlet of the passage. The apparatus has a nozzle in liquid communication with the outlet of the passage for guiding the small amount of viscous liquid material expelled from the outlet of the passage onto the substrate.

摘要: Apparatus and methods for dispensing droplets of liquid or viscous material. The apparatus generally comprises a valve operated dispenser and a control for moving the valve member with respect to a valve seat in rapid succession. This rapidly accelerates liquid or viscous material in a stream from the dispenser outlet and immediately breaks the stream into a minute droplet. Various embodiments of the valve seat include both rigid valve seats and resilient valve seats. Resilient valve seats are especially useful for dispensing solder pastes as they can prevent material flaking, compacting and clogging conditions. Low friction polymer or plastic material for dispenser components such as the valve member and outlet structure can also prevent such problems.

摘要: A method and apparatus for spraying adhesive compositions having a high solids content comprises a source of supercritical fluid diluent such as supercritical carbon dioxide, a source of virgin adhesive, an adhesive dispenser and a mixer communicating with each source of material and with the dispenser. The mixer includes a dynamic mixing element which agitates the viscous adhesive material allowing the supercritical carbon dioxide to be effectively dispersed into the adhesive, thus forming an adhesive composition with a high solids content having a relatively low viscosity suitable for spray application of the adhesive.

摘要: Method and apparatus for a laterally extendable backup light system for placement on the trailer of the 18-wheeler tractor trailer truck. The backup light would be mounted underneath an outer edge of the trailer of the tractor-trailer so that it would be extendable laterally away from the edge of the trailer so that the light portion would extend far enough outwardly to travel beyond the outer edge of the trailer so that the beam of light emanating therefrom would illuminate the area behind the rear of the trailer. A linear actuator controlled wirelessly or via hardwire by the driver of the truck would actuate the light portion of the device so that the light portion would extend from an enclosure beyond the edge of the trailer of the truck-trailer or would be retracted back into the enclosure.

摘要: An improved liquid handling needle device for use with the reconstitution of toxic drugs such as those used in chemotherapy and other applications. When diluent, in this example, is added through a septum into a sealed container, a positive pressure builds up. Aerosols containing the reconstituted drugs can be release through the punctured opening exposing personnel to potential contamination. This improved needle device provides a low-cost aerosol resistant vent channel between the outside diameter of the needle and the inside diameter of the tubular member holding it allowing gas diffusion from inside of the sealed container through the vent channel to the outside of the container when said needle device is inserted into the sealed container. This specifically engineered aerosol resistant vent channel prohibits the flow of the aerosol particles from flowing due to the frictional contact of the aerosol particles with either of the opposing walls forming the vent channel causing any aerosol particles to condense and be redirected back into the liquid receiving sealed container, thus providing sterile air venting for both the injecting and withdrawal of fluids.

摘要: A lubricated ball bearing for use in ball bearing sets is disclosed. The lubricated ball bearing features a lubricating coating applied to its outer surface. The lubricating coating preferably comprises silver, and enables the ball bearing to be utilized in bearing assemblies environments where other lubricants may not be acceptably used, such as in the high vacuum environment of an x-ray tube. The lubricating coating is attached to the ball bearing via an intermediate bonding layer that is interposed between the outer surface of the ball bearing core and the lubricating coating. The intermediate bonding layer, preferably comprising nickel, is chemically bonded to both the ball bearing core and the lubricating coating. This produces a lubricating coating having a high-strength adhesion to the ball bearing such that flaking or degrading of the coating will not occur in the high heat, high vacuum environment of the x-ray tube during x-ray production.

摘要: An apparatus for a pipette tip having a membrane filter includes a pipette tip having an interior annulus for receiving an exterior perimeter of the membrane filter. A shear plate overlying the pipette tip defines an aperture having a dimension equal to the exterior perimeter of the membrane filter. A cylindrical punch has a path of motion for passing through the aperture in the shear plate to the interior annulus of the pipette tip. Membrane filter material is placed over the shear plate in the path of motion of the cylindrical punch. By the expedient of moving the cylindrical punch through the membrane filter material, the aperture in the shear plate, to the interior annulus of the pipette tip to place sheared filter material over the annulus of the pipette tip. Specific embodiments of pipette tips are illustrated including tips having a first filter for filtering material drawn into the pipette tip and second filters from preventing contamination of the pipette.

摘要: A positive displacement liquid drawing and dispensing apparatus (21) having a tubular member (22) with an axially extending lumen (24) and a plunger (31) mounted for axial displacement in the lumen (24). The plunger (31) has a first seal (33) positioned proximate an end (34) of the plunger and a second seal (37) axially spaced from the first seal (33). The first and second seal each slidably and sealingly engage an interior surface (23) defining the lumen (24) as the plunger (31) is displaced in the lumen. The plunger further includes a recess (38) intermediate the first and second seals for receipt of trapped gas (40,41) which can be drawn in through an intake end (27) of the lumen during drawing of the liquid (36) into the tubular member (22). The plunger is formed for positioning of the first seal (33) beyond the intake opening (27) so that air will automatically be isolated between the first and second seals (33,37) as the plunger is withdrawn into a lumen. A substantially gas-free draw of liquid will result between the first seal (33) and the intake opening (27). A method of drawing the liquid in the apparatus which includes automatically isolating an uppermost portion of the liquid (36) and gas (41) from a lower portion of the volume drawn into the apparatus (21).
