摘要:
A method of replacing a memory module in a computer system. Specifically, a method for replacing a memory module in a segment of a redundant memory system, without powering-down the memory system.
摘要:
A method of adding memory capacity to a computer system. The computer system comprises a redundant memory system including a plurality of memory cartridges. By powering-down a memory cartridge, adding an additional memory module to the memory cartridge, and powering-up the memory cartridge for each memory cartridge in the system, the system can transition from a redundant mode of operation to a non-redundant mode of operation for each power-down, thus allowing the computer system to remain functional during the addition of the memory module. Alternatively, memory cartridges with higher memory capacity than those currently present in the computer system can be used to replace existing memory cartridges in the computer system, using the same techniques.

The control logic for a hot-pluggable memory cartridge for use in a redundant memory system. To implement a hot-pluggable memory cartridge in a redundant memory system, control logic to control the sequence of events for powering-up and powering-down a memory cartridge is provided.

A processor-based device having a plurality of memory cartridges secured within a chassis by a lever system. The processor-based device comprises an indication system to indicate memory system operating conditions. Each memory cartridge has a protective assembly to protect memory elements within the memory cartridge when the memory cartridge is removed from the processor-based device. The processor-based device is operable such that at least one memory cartridge may be removed from the processor-based device without affecting operation of the processor-based device.

A computer system such as a server pipelines RNIC interface (RI) management/control operations such as memory registration operations to hide from network applications the latency in performing RDMA work requests caused in part by delays in processing the memory registration operations and the time required to execute the registration operations themselves. A separate QP-like structure, called a control QP (CQP), interfaces with a control processor (CP) to form a control path pipeline, separate from the transaction pipeline, which is designated to handle all control path traffic associated with the processing of RI control operations. This includes memory registration operations (MR OPs), as well as the creation and destruction of traditional QPs for processing RDMA transactions. Once the MR OP has been queued in the control path pipeline of the adapter, a pending bit is set which is associated with the MR OP. Processing of an RDMA work request in the transaction pipeline that has engendered the enqueued MR OP is permitted to proceed as if the processing of the MR OP has already been completed. If the work request gets ahead of the MR OP, the associated pending bit being set will notify the adapter's work request transaction pipeline to stall (and possibly reschedule) completion of the work request until the processing of the MR OP for that memory region is complete. When the memory registration process for the memory region is complete, the associated pending bit is reset and the adapter transaction pipeline is permitted to continue processing the work request using the newly registered memory region.

The present invention relates to a light guide for a lamp for dentistry procedures. The light guide provides an optical channel between a light source and a dental substrate. The light guide may be a one-patient use light guide including a recording medium to record the time used. The light guide further provides protection for a patient's soft tissues during treatment.
