Abstract:
A method and apparatus for Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation is configured to automatically set an optimal GPS reception period and optimal map contents according to a moving speed of a user in a navigation system using a GPS terminal. When the moving speed of the user is considered, power efficiency is increased by optimizing a GPS reception period in terms of hardware and system load is decreased by reducing an unnecessary system operation in terms of software. User convenience is maximized by optimizing map contents requested by the user according to a moving speed in real time and displaying the optimized map contents.

The method includes registering a schedule including route setup information such as an origin, a destination, and a desired arrival time; receiving real time traffic data; setting a route from the origin to the destination; calculating a required driving duration time for the route; determining a departure time by using the desired arrival time and the required driving duration time; updating the departure time by recalculating the required driving duration time for the route in advance of the departure time; and notifying the departure time at the departure time. The apparatus includes a schedule storage unit, a real time traffic data receiver, a control unit, and an alarm generator.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a method for serving character message transmission during a telephone call over PSTN connected to the central office to which information terminals having displays are connected for telephone calls and for data communication, the method including the steps of: based on SMS message writing and transmission request for use of character message transmission service of the first information telephone subscriber during a telephone call between a first and a second information telephone subscribers among the information telephones, if the customer premise equipment (CPE) alerting signal (CAS) is transmitted from the first information telephone in order to secure data transmitting/receiving reliability, muting, at the first information telephone, a handset of the first information telephone, transferring the CAS to the second information telephone through the central office in order to data transmitting/receiving reliability, and receiving a first acknowledge (ACK) message in response; after receiving the first ACK message, transferring, at the first information telephone, a message to the second information telephone through the central office for notifying the second information telephone to get prepared for receiving the written SMS message, and receiving a second ACK message in response; after receiving the second ACK message, transferring, at the first information telephone, the written SMS message to the second information telephone through the central office, and receiving a third ACK message in response; and after receiving the third ACK message, releasing, at the first information telephone, the handset of the first information telephone, and maintaining a busy state between the first and the second information telephone subscribers.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for measuring the speed of a land vehicle using an accelerometer. The method includes the steps of storing measurement data provided from an accelerometer; analyzing the measurement data to determine whether the vehicle is stopped; calculating a road angle using the measurement data of the accelerometer when it is determined, upon analysis, that the vehicle is moving; determining the sign of the road angle when the road angle is greater than a threshold value; compensating for a gravitational acceleration component included in the measurement data of the accelerometer using the road angle; and calculating the speed of the vehicle based on the acceleration of the vehicle with the gravitational acceleration component compensated. It is possible to reduce the number of expensive gyroscopes needed for a vehicle speed measuring apparatus, thereby reducing the cost of the apparatus.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for detecting location of a movable body in a navigation system comprising a map data detector for detecting map information of a region corresponding to location information from an external digital map storage on the basis of the location information of the movable body transmitted from sensors sensing the location and traveling information of the movable body; a memory for storing the map information detected from the map data detector; a filter for computing an optimum location of the movable body including road error included in the map information on the basis of the location and traveling information of the movable body transmitted from the sensors; and a map-matching unit for receiving the optimum location information of the movable body from the filter and correcting the optimum location information by matching the optimum location information and the map information stored in the memory. The method and apparatus can apply a constraint to the location of the movable body by computing the location of the movable body including a width of road, in comparison with a case using only direction of road as a measured value. Further, the method and apparatus increases accuracy of location determination of the movable body by performing real-time correction of the sensor information including error whenever the sensor information is inputted, using the constraint model including the map information.

Abstract:
An off-board navigation system and method for calibrating an error using the same. A server provided in the off-board navigation system calculates a predetermined path using a pre-stored map in response to a request, generates calibration information based upon the calculated path, and transmits the calculated path and the calibration information. A terminal provided in the off-board navigation system requests that the server calculate the predetermined path, receives the calculated path and the calibration information, compares the calibration information and position information measured by sensors embedded in the terminal, and compensates for the sensors. The off-board navigation system can calibrate a position error between map information and actual traveling information, and hence can improve the accuracy of navigation service.
Abstract:
A method for forming a dynamic random access memory device includes the step of forming a memory cell access transistor on a semiconductor substrate wherein the memory cell access transistor includes a source/drain region at a surface of the semiconductor substrate. An insulating layer is formed on the semiconductor substrate and on the memory cell access transistor wherein the insulating layer has a contact hole therein exposing a portion of the source/drain region of the substrate. A first conductive layer is chemical vapor deposited on the exposed portion of the source/drain region of the substrate, and a second conductive layer is physical vapor deposited on the first conductive layer opposite the substrate. A dielectric layer is formed on the second conductive layer opposite the substrate, and a third conductive layer is formed on the dielectric layer opposite the substrate.
Abstract:
A method and a system for providing application service are disclosed. The method of providing application service in a digital data broadcasting system coupled to at least one broadcasting terminal through a network includes generating a preview contents by using first data combined with an application for data broadcasting service, wherein the preview contents has second data provided when a user requests the application service, and transmitting the generated preview contents to the broadcasting terminal. Here, the broadcasting terminal outputs the preview contents before data broadcasting standby time. Accordingly, useful information may be provided to the user before the application is executed.
