Method and apparatus (2) of a vehicle for alerting a driver of a vehicle when the vehicle deviates from a predefined driving area in a lane. The apparatus includes an image display unit (6) and a control unit (5) connected to each other to enable the apparatus to provide a visual warning via the image display unit when the vehicle is outside the predefined driving area and where the visual warning is displayed in the form of a solid or broken line on the side of the image display unit (6) that corresponds to the side of the vehicle where the deviation occurs.

Display device for indicating an operational state of a vehicle including a display unit, where the device shows graphical information on the display unit in the form of an arc-shaped scale and a number of numerals corresponding to the value of the operational state. The device includes an arc-shaped field with an extent from a first angle φ1 to a second angle φ2 and with an outer delimiting line that extends along the inside of the arc-shaped scale. The arc-shaped field is divided into a first segment A, which extends from the first angle φ1 to a third variable angle φ, and a second segment B, which extends from the third variable angle φ to the second angle φ2, where the third variable angle φ to the second angle φ2. The third variable angle φcorresponds to the relevant operational state of the vehicle and where φ1≦φ≦φ2, where the first segment A is arranged to assume a state that is visually distinguishable from the second area B.

A communication system for vehicle compartment of a first vehicle is provided. The communication system is configured to provide an audible message to a driver of the first vehicle. The communication system includes a plurality of speakers spatially distributed apart from each other within the vehicle compartment, and a control unit for controlling the plurality of speakers. The control unit is configured to receive the audible message from a communication unit arranged remotely from the first vehicle, determine a spatial relation between the geographical position of the communication system in the first vehicle and a geographical position coupled to the audible message, assign at least one of the plurality of speakers for generating directional sound towards the driver within the vehicle compartment, the direction of the sound corresponding to the spatial relation between the first vehicle and the geographical position coupled to the audible message, and provide the audible message to the driver from the at least one assigned speaker.

Method and system for supporting path control are disclosed for supporting path control especially of a vehicle on a road or in an off-road environment, or of a ship or an airplane. The supporting of path control is especially provided by conducting at least one of the following steps (a) and (b): (a) estimating an actual future path of the vehicle on the basis of vehicle movement data and at least one of optically, acoustically, and tactilely indicating the estimated actual future path to the driver, (b) detecting the actual present path of the vehicle, estimating a present deviation of the detected actual present path from a desired present path and at least one of optically, acoustically, and tactilely indicating the estimated present deviation to the driver.

Method and system for supporting path control are disclosed for supporting path control especially of a vehicle on a road or in an off-road environment, or of a ship or an airplane. The information is presented in such a way that such a person is less impaired with respect to his ability to detect changes in the environment when reading such information so that safety especially of driving a vehicle is considerably improved.
