    摘要: The present invention relates to a blind rivet nut. Blind rivet nuts are used to connect items to surfaces of materials, such as roof racks to automobiles, and have proven to be extremely reliable. However, difficulties occur when attempting to connect to several layers of materials or when material thickness increase, as it has been necessary to increase hole size in order to ensure hole registration and this can cause sealing problems. The invention provides a blind rivet nut capable of being used through one or several layers with improved grip capability and improved sealing ability preventing ingress of moisture. Lines of weakness in the form of grooves are formed in a portion of the body of the blind rivet nut so that material deforms selectively thereby improving the grip of the blind rivet nut. A flange has an annular recess that enables an O-ring seal to deform more efficiently, giving a larger ‘footprint’ than was previously possible thereby enhancing sealing.

    摘要: The invention relates to a blind rivet, related method of removal and a tool. The removable blind rivet has a rivet body that receives a mandrel. The rivet body has a flange with a line of weakness formed therein. The line of weakness is adapted to shear under an axial load, whereby the flange is severed, substantially as a single item, from the rivet body. The invention extends to a tool for removing the rivet, the tool having: a body and a punch surface, the punch surface adapted to apply an axial force to a region of the flange, whereby the flange is severed from the rivet body in the form of an annulus, leaving a hollow rivet body that may be removed from a workpiece. The advantage of the invention is that it enables the flange to be removed form the rivet body as a single item.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a blind rivet and blind rivet removal system and related method. Once set the blind rivet is not normally removed. However, increasingly removal is required due to the need to recycle automobiles. In order to remove blind rivets it has been necessary to remove the rivet flange by a variety of methods. Generally these methods were ineffective due to the resistance afforded by the mandrel and the risk of damage to the application or workpiece. Removing this unwanted swarf and debris often proved difficult. The invention provides a rivet with a stepped flange and a rivet removal tool with clips adapted to fit between the flange and surface of a workpiece so that upon relative displacement of the clips a rivet is extracted in a substantially axial direction as a single item. The invention also includes a tool and related method of blind rivet removal.
