    摘要: The present invention relates to testing a mobile device in a lab by providing test signals to the mobile device via a cabled connection which bypasses the actual physical antennas in the mobile device. The test signals emulate a wireless channel and incorporate representative and/or actual measured characteristics of the performance of the antennas in the mobile device. As such, the performance mobile device can be accurately measured without requiring placement in an anechoic chamber, which enables efficient testing over a large set of configurations and underlying conditions.

    摘要: In a method for allocating a system resource to subscribers of a wireless communication system a resource sensitivity indicator is determined for a system resource allocated by the wireless communication system for each of a first subscriber and a second subscriber. The system resource may include a level of service, a channel frequency, or a data rate. Next, an inefficient allocation of the system resource detected. One of the first and second subscribers having a lower resource sensitivity indicator is selected. Finally, an allocation of the system resource is changed for the selected subscriber unit to increase the efficiency of the allocation of the system resource.

    摘要: A method for assigning subscribers between narrowbeam sectors includes, in a first embodiment, off-loading subscribers to alternate sectors when a current sector becomes loaded beyond a loading threshold. The subscriber(s) having the greatest signal quality measure (e.g., power setting) are preferably selected for off-loading, since such are typically in regions having the greatest overlap with other sectors (e.g., close to the antennas). The selected subscriber(s) are transferred to an alternate sector, preferably one having the best received signal quality with the subscriber and also having loading beneath the loading threshold.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for assigning location estimates from a first transceiver of a plurality of wireless transceivers to a second transceiver is disclosed. The present invention makes use of a low power short-range auxiliary communication link incorporated within networked devices to interact with nearby devices for obtaining location estimates of the current location of a device. Confidence levels are then assigned to the information obtained from the interactions with the nearby devices, and a determination of whether to update the location estimate is made.
