    摘要: A fiber optical connector includes a pair of fiber supporting members each having at least one axially aligned channel for accommodating the fiber. A fiber holding member is associated with each supporting member and includes at least one projection for engaging a fiber within respective channel. The holding and supporting members form an integral assembly for holding the fibers with the ends thereof projecting a predetermined distance from the end of respective channels. A separate fiber receiving member includes a fiber junction region having at least one channel therein of sufficient length to hold said projecting fibers in end to end relationship. A U-shaped transversely displaceable member is provided for engaging and securing respective fiber tips at the junction of the fibers within said channel. The respective channels of the supporting members are inclined downwardly in an axial direction toward the channel at the junction region whereby a bend in the respective fibers tend to urge the fibers toward the bottom of the channel. Each supporting member and the receiving member include complimentary means for attaching the supporting members in opposed assembled relationship to the fiber receiving member and axially aligning the respective channels whereby a continuous optical path is provided.

The connector design is characterized by an inner housing of insulative material for supporting a plurality of electrical contacts and an outer insulative structure which encloses the housing and is easily removable therefrom. The latter permits the cleaning of the electrical contacts after a soldering operation and also allows for the replacement of individual defective contacts. Additionally, if required for impedance or electrical interference considerations, the present connector utilizes an integral ground conductor plane which substantially encloses its outer insulative structure and is electrically connected to the ground plane of the printed wiring board.

    摘要: Each of a pair of members has a mating surface extending from one edge to another. When they are mated together, with optical fibers, they act as a housing. At least one member includes formed grooves on its mating surface, extending from one edge to another thereof. Each groove from one edge of the mating surface to a point medial to the one edge and the other edge is formed to at least partially hold an unjacketed optical fiber therein. Each groove from such point to the other edge is formed to at least partially hold a jacketed optical fiber therein. Each groove in at least one of the members can be uniformly formed from the one edge of the mating surface to the respective point, and can be uniformly formed from the respective point to the other edge of the mating surface. Each groove can change from one uniform formation to a different uniform formation at the respective point. The mating surfaces, preferably, are predominately planar, and the respective points of the fibers are oriented along a reference locus. Desirably, the housing, with the optical fibers, has jacketed fibers extending from one edge, and unjacketed fibers extending from the other edge. When the first edge is planar, the unjacketed fibers can extend therefrom to a common plane parallel to the first edge.

    摘要: The present disclosure describes an insulated electrical contact pin for use in making wiring changes in an interconnection medium such as a printed circuit board or backplane. More specifically, the present pin replaces the original compliant press-fit type pin mounted in a plated-through hole on the board. The pin is formed in two sections--one section having a threaded extremity, and the other, a tapped bore to receive the former. The pin is mounted in a plated-through hole on the printed wiring board by screwing the two sections together. Portions of the pin sections are electrically insulated from the wiring traces situated on or below the board surface. The present contact pin is versatile, easy to install and tolerance-free with respect to the dimensions of the plated-through hole in which it is mounted.

    摘要: The present disclosure describes a connector assembly especially suited for a large scale integration (LSI) package. The assembly includes a housing to accommodate the package and a hold-down lid or cover to insure reliable electrical connections between the package circuit leads and the contact elements disposed within the housing. The assembly is characterized by the ease with which the housing may be attached to the interconnection medium, such as a printed circuit board, and the hold-down cover may be fastened to the connector housing. The latter are accomplished by a plurality of metal pins which protrude from the interconnection medium, penetrate the housing, and engage locking slots in the cover.

The test coupons are probed with conventional electrical instruments to provide information as to the occurrence of a misregistration of any given subsurface printed plane or trace, whether or not the misregistration exceeds a specified limit, and if desired, a measure of the degree of misregistration. The foregoing are readily accomplished in a time and cost efficient manner without the need for cross-sectioning portions of the board and the visual observation of the subsurface printed layers.
