    摘要: A technique of treating an automotive coating to modify surface-specific physical properties thereof while retaining bulk physical properties of the automotive coating includes the step of generating a plasma discharge in a plasma generating assembly. The automotive coating is treated with the plasma discharge. The automotive coating is completely cured prior to treatment with the plasma discharge. To treat the automotive coating, either 1) a precursor material is introduced into the plasma discharge to form a thin film on the automotive coating, or 2) the plasma discharge is free of a precursor material and weak bonds are destroyed on or near the surface of the automotive coating.

    摘要: A paint coating system comprises a substrate and a first paint layer disposed on the substrate. The first paint layer is formed from a first composition comprising either a first decomplexing agent or a first organoborane complex. The paint coating system further comprises a second paint layer disposed on the first paint layer. The second paint layer is formed from a second composition comprising the other of the first decomplexing agent and the first organoborane complex. At least one of the first and second compositions further comprises a radical polymerizable compound. A method of producing a multilayered paint coating includes the steps of providing the substrate, applying a first paint layer on the substrate, applying a second paint layer on the first paint layer, and curing the at least one of the first and second paint layers.

The asphalt-based formulation can be formed by mixing water; an asphalt emulsion; at least one first compound in aqueous solution selected from the group consisting of alkali metal salts, alkali metal hydroxides, ammonium salts, and ammonium hydroxide; at least one second compound in aqueous solution selected from the group consisting of Group IIA salts, Group IIIA salts, Group IIIB salts, copper salts, zinc salts, cadmium salts, manganese salts, iron salts, cobalt salts, and nickel salts; and optionally aggregate. Also, a method of preparing an asphalt-based formulation using these components.

    摘要: A polyurethane coating is prepared on a substrate using a multi-component coating composition having a first component containing a polyisocyanate material, a second component containing a polymeric polyol, and a third component containing a compound having at least two hindered secondary amine groups by first determining the temperature at curing of the coating will take place and then combining the first and second components and, when the cure temperature is less than about 20° C., particularly less than about 10° C., also combining the third component to prepare a combined coating composition; then applying the combined coating composition to the substrate and curing the applied coating layer.

    摘要: A curable coating composition includes a uretdione compound having one uretdione group and having a plurality of functional groups selected from crosslinkable groups and groups that modify a coating property. The disclosed coating compositions include those having a binder component having a plurality of active hydrogen-containing groups. When the uretdione compound has a functional group that is a crosslinkable group, the coating composition further includes a crosslinker that has a plurality of crosslinking groups reactive under curing conditions with the crosslinkable group. Also disclosed is a method of making the curable coating composition, including preparing the uretdione compound having one uretdione group and having at least one further functional group.
