摘要: Aqueous well treatment fluid compositions with biocidal activity are disclosed comprising a polymer for modifying fluid viscosity in the aqueous fluid, an organic monocarboxylic peracid being present in an anti-microbial amount of about 1 ppm to about 1000 ppm, and a controlled amount of hydrogen peroxide also being present. Peracetic acid is the preferred peracid. The viscosity-modifying polymer in the aqueous well treatment fluid composition may serve to reduce friction in the fluid or increase fluid viscosity. A method of using such compositions is also disclosed.

摘要: Concentrated aqueous hydrogen peroxide or another reactive compound in a liquid carrier is activated by atomization and contact with a suitable catalyst that is concurrently atomized in a carrier liquid. Concentrated hydrogen peroxide and a hydrogen peroxide activation catalyst are atomized into a droplet spray for catalytic activation of the hydrogen peroxide in this invention, useful for treatment of a combustion flue gas containing contaminants such as NOχ and/or Hg.

摘要: Process for recovering cyanide values from a mill tailings stream remaining after gold and silver have been leached from an ore, by treating the tailings stream containing both ore insolubles and remaining cyanide leachant, without a preliminary filtration, to acidification with an acid to a pH of at least 4, stripping the cyanide values therefrom with a stripping gas in a stripping column such as a baffle plate column wherein the average residence time of the column is sufficiently low that the pH of the stream does not rise above about 4 and the ore insolubles do not plug the column, introducing the stripping gas and stripped cyanide values into an absorbing column containing an alkaline liquor to absorb the cyanide values, recovering the absorbed cyanide values, and removing a stripped tailings stream reduced in cyanide values.

摘要: Combustion flue gas containing NOX and SOX is treated to remove NOX in a multistep system in which NOX is reduced in the flue gas stream via selective catalytic reduction or selective non-catalytic reduction with ammonia or an ammonia-forming compound, followed treatment with hydrogen peroxide to remove residual ammonia and, optionally, treatment with an alkali reagent to reduce residual NOX in the flue gas stream. The NOX-depleted flue gas stream may also be subjected to a desulfurization treatment for removal of SOX.

摘要: Combustion flue gas containing NOX and SOX is treated to remove NOX in a multistep system in which NOx is reduced in the flue gas stream via selective catalytic reduction or selective non-catalytic reduction with ammonia or an ammonia-forming compound, followed treatment with hydrogen peroxide to remove residual ammonia and, optionally, treatment with an alkali reagent to reduce residual NOX in the flue gas stream. The NOX-depleted flue gas stream may also be subjected to a desulfurization treatment for removal of SOX.
