    摘要: An applicator device (1) applies surface size to at least one side of a web (W). A pressure effect is applied to the web (W) by subjecting the web (W) to an underpressure and/or to an overpressure such that surface size is forced to penetrate into the pores of the web. Most advantageously, an underpressure is created that sucks applied surface size from the surface of the web (W) into the pores in the inner layers. Surface size is applied to a web first side (W1) and a vacuum effect is applied to the web's opposite side (W2) to cause air to flow through the web (W) such that surface size moves from the first side (W1) in the direction of the second side (W2) into the web (W). Correspondingly, both sides of the web (W) can be treated in successive stages.

    摘要: The invention relates to a slide shoe assembly for a roll (1) in a paper/board machine or a finishing machine, said roll (1) comprising a stationary axle (4), around which is rotatably mounted a cylindrical roll shell (2), a clearance (5) formed between the axle (4) and an inner surface (3) oF the roll shell (2) being fitted with loading elements (11) operated by a pressurized hydraulic fluid and provided with slide shoes (10, 110) which are loadable against the inner surface (3) of the roll shell (2) for controlling the distribution of a nip pressure in a nip (N) established with a counter roll (9). According to the invention, the loading element is equipped with means capable of eliminating or compensating for a nip-load induced deflection of the roll shell and/or a deflection of the slide shoe caused by the pressure of a hydraulic medium, thereby eliminating the harmful effects caused by said deflections on an oil film between the loading shoe and a cylindrical surface supported thereby.

In the method, the roll shell (2) is supported on a stationary roll shaft (3) by means of hydrostatic slide bearing elements (4a, 4b; 4a′, 4b′; 5a, 5b; 5a′, 5b′), acting on the roll shell (2) in radially opposite directions, at least in the direction of a plane co-directional with a first plane or a plane parallel to a primary loading (F) and in a plane substantially lateral to a plane co-directional with the primary loading (F). The slide bearing elements (4a, 4b, 4a′, 4b′, 5a, 5b, 5a′, 5b′) are loaded hydraulically by means of a pressure fluid. The lateral bearing elements (4a, 4b; 4a′, 4b′) acting in radially opposite directions have a hydrostatic pressure thereof adjusted by means of a regulator (20) having feedback connection with the main bearing elements (5a, 5b, 5a′, 5b′) acting in the direction of a plane co-directional with the primary loading (F) to comply at a predetermined ratio with the maximum hydrostatic pressure of the main bearing elements (5a, 5b, 5a′, 5b′) acting on the roll shell (2). The arrangement of the invention comprises a valve control piston (9), delivering a hydraulic medium required for the pressurization of said at least one loading element (2) and positioned in a valve cylinder (8), said control piston (9) being provided with a positioning valve (10) on the face of the control piston (9) pointing towards the loading element (2), the face of the control piston (9) opposite relative to the positioning valve (10) being coupled with a pressure line (LP) of the hydraulic system for focusing a holding pressure on the control piston (9).
