摘要: Methods for producing an at least partially cured layer by applying a layer including a (meth)acrylate-functional siloxane to a surface of a substrate, and irradiating the layer in a substantially inert atmosphere with a short wavelength polychromatic ultraviolet light source having a peak intensity at a wavelength of from about 160 nanometers to about 240 nanometers to at least partially cure the layer. Optionally, the layer is at a curing temperature greater than 25° C. In some embodiments, the layer has a thickness of about 0.1 micrometers to about 1 micrometer. In certain embodiments, the layer is substantially free of a photoinitiator and/or an organic solvent. In some particular embodiments, irradiating the layer with a short wavelength polychromatic ultraviolet light source takes place in an inert atmosphere including no greater than 50 ppm oxygen. The substantially cured layer may be a release layer or a low adhesion backsize (LAB).

The holder being elongated and including an insert groove, a locking rod groove and a locking rod being movably received in the locking rod groove and being formed with locking portions adapted to project through a slot and with releasing portions. The insert being elongated and including a coating rod groove being adapted to rotatably support a coating rod, and one or more engagement formations being adapted to interact with the locking rod to allow the insert to be inserted into and released from the insert groove when the locking rod is in a releasing position, and to allow secure holding of the insert in the insert groove when the locking rod is in a locking position, in which the engagement formations is in engagement with the locking rod.

摘要: A metering rod assembly including a body for accommodating a metering rod insert and configured to clamp the metering rod and/or metering rod insert without the use of an auxiliary clamping device, such as a pressure tube or the like. A rod bed insert is supported in a tapered channel of a body whereby a clamping action is created during use. In another embodiment, the body includes a hinge portion that facilitates relative rotation between upper and lower jaws to create a clamping action during use.

摘要: An applicator device (1) applies surface size to at least one side of a web (W). A pressure effect is applied to the web (W) by subjecting the web (W) to an underpressure and/or to an overpressure such that surface size is forced to penetrate into the pores of the web. Most advantageously, an underpressure is created that sucks applied surface size from the surface of the web (W) into the pores in the inner layers. Surface size is applied to a web first side (W1) and a vacuum effect is applied to the web's opposite side (W2) to cause air to flow through the web (W) such that surface size moves from the first side (W1) in the direction of the second side (W2) into the web (W). Correspondingly, both sides of the web (W) can be treated in successive stages.

摘要: A system for two-sided coating of a running paper web. The device comprises an application device for spreading the coating material over both sides of the web running through a first nip formed by a rotating counter roll and a levelling member.According to the invention, the device includes an auxiliary roll, which is, in the direction of progress of the web, fitted at a certain distance from the first nip and which, together with the counter roll, forms a second nip for the web which has followed along with the said roll over the distance. The diameter of the auxiliary roll is substantially smaller than the diameter of the counter roll, and the face of the auxiliary roll is substantially harder than that of the counter roll. By means of the invention, the risk of damaging the coating at the side of the web facing the roll can be reduced by the web being detached from the second nip formed between the rolls.

摘要: Apparatus for carbonizing a tissue paper web has an improved inking section which permits tissue to be coated, with or without uncoated striped areas, at speeds up to about 3,000 feet per minute. A first doctor blade positioned upstream of a second doctor blade and an equalizer rod contacts the paper very lightly so as to remove some of the excess thickness of ink on the paper, thus reducing the amount of ink to be removed by the second doctor blade and the equalizer rod. The equalizer rod is made of hardened wire of a very small diameter, preferably about 0.047 inches, and is supported under tension in a shallow v-groove by a pair of chucks which are rotated together.

摘要: A method and apparatus for applying a coating composition onto a web, in which the coating composition is subjected to a first general smoothing during the passage of the web between relatively stiff surfaces of a primary coating member and the final smoothing of the coating is effected in a nip formed between relatively flexible flat surfaces of a secondary coating member. Said coating members being spaced from each other in the running direction of the web. The web is both stabilised and pre-coated by the primary coating member, whereas the coating is finalised by the secondary coating member.
