    Abstract: A furnace system for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a furnace controller configured to determine a rolling average furnace run time of the furnace system based on a plurality of previous run cycles of the furnace system. The furnace controller is configured to segment the rolling average furnace run time into a plurality of operational time periods, wherein each operational time period is associated with a distinct fire rate of a plurality of distinct fire rates the furnace system. The furnace controller is also configured to operate the furnace system to sequentially implement the plurality of distinct fire rates associated with the plurality of operational time periods.

    Abstract: An energy efficient heat pump includes a working fluid circuit configured to circulate a working fluid, where the working fluid circuit includes a compressor, a first heat exchanger, a second heat exchanger, a first expansion device, an economizer, and a reversing valve, where the reversing valve is configured to adjust a flow direction of the working fluid through the working fluid circuit. The energy efficient heat pump also includes a first conduit of the working fluid circuit, where the first conduit extends between the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger, the economizer is disposed along the first conduit, and the first conduit is configured to direct the working fluid between the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger and through the economizer. The energy efficient heat pump further includes an injection conduit extending from the first conduit to an injection port of the compressor, where the injection conduit includes a second expansion device, and the injection conduit is configured to direct a portion of the working fluid from the working fluid circuit, through the second expansion device, through the economizer, and to the injection port of the compressor to inject of the portion of the working fluid into the compressor.

    Abstract: A system faults to a return air sensor integrated within a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) unit. The system transmits a signal to a remote sensor. The system determines that a return signal is not received from the remote sensor. The system obtains a temperature reading from the return air sensor. The system determines whether the temperature reading satisfies a temperature setting stored in the memory. In response to determining that the temperature reading does not satisfy the temperature setting, the system enables heating or cooling of the HVAC unit until the temperature setting is satisfied. In response to determining that the temperature reading satisfies the temperature setting, the system disables heating or cooling of the HVAC unit.
