Abstract:
Apparatus and method for recirculating articles on a belt conveyor. An article-recirculation path is formed in a pair of parallel conveyor belts running continuously in opposite directions. Article-supporting rollers in each belt rotate to transfer articles from one belt to the other in a transfer region at each end of the conveyor to form an endless recirculation path.
Abstract:
Disclosed is polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising an antibody binding site, the polypeptide being able to bind to HCV E2 samples representative of each of HCV genotypes 1-6, as well as polypeptides having such properties and uses of such polypeptides in detecting and treating HCV infection.
Abstract:
Aluminium sheet suitable for use as a lithographic plate support has a surface that is uniformly rough by virtue of a rippled topography having an aspect ratio of at least 1.3 on a ale of 5-200 .mu.m and a superimposed pitted surface on a scale of 1-20 .mu.m.
Abstract:
A method of executing a computer application in the context of a computer model comprising the steps of retrieving computer model data from a model server, retrieving application information from an application server, and executing said application information in the context of the model in an execution environment.
Abstract:
A manual clothes-washing device made up of a handle, which is fastened to a washing body, a sheath and a splash cone. The washing body is a generally concave disc with a plurality of apertures connected to a generally cylindrical tube that extends from a central portion of the disc to a tube end threaded for connection with the handle. The sheath is placed over the washing body and connected to the handle. A splash cone attachment fits over the second end of the sheath. Clothes are washed by alternatively plunging and lifting a portion of the device in a mixture of clothes and liquid to suspend the soil from the clothes within the liquid.
Abstract:
Surface defects on rolled alulminium alloy sheet, particularly that intended for use as lithographic plate substrate, are caused by copper-containing particles. The invention provides a method of improving the sheet by removing the particles by anodising in an aggressive electrolyte, particularly a.c. anodising at a current density of at least 2 kAm−2.
Abstract:
Partially occluded and/or multimeric presentations of peptides mimic the epitopes recognised by antibodies capable of neutralising diverse clinical isolates of the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). By “partially occluded” is meant a presentation that has a three-dimensional structure (probably a barrel/cylindrical/helical shape) generated by inter-chain disulphide bridging or other means that has internally, at or near its base, the epitope that is recognised by the neutralising antibody; i.e. a partially occluded presentation is a three-dimensional presentation of one or more neutralising epitopes such that the epitope is located in a pocket or cleft. Such presentations are better at eliciting antibodies that have the neutralising phenotype, and may be used as vaccines or to produce antibodies for the prevention or treatment of HIV-1 infection.
Abstract:
An aluminum workpiece, e.g. sheet for containerstock, having an anodic oxide film whose thickness varies from location to location on the surface, whereby interference contrast effects are visible on the surface. Aluminum foil having on a surface thereof an unsealed anodic oxide film 5-1000 nm thick which provides a clean surface with fretting resistance. A method of anodizing thin aluminum foil is also described.
Abstract:
A lithographic plate comprising a substrate carrying an oxide layer derived from a Type A sol is disclosed. The substrate may be metal, e.g. aluminum or steel, and may be in a mill finished state or grained or otherwise profiled. Type A sols have polynuclear cations but no specific particles and may be formed by peptising basic salts with acids. The sol may include an inorganic passenger powder which may impart a desired topography to the coating layer.
Abstract:
A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a computer-readable storage medium operating in a web server having computer instructions for receiving from an Internet browser a request to create a viewing profile for a web page, creating the viewing profile by generating an asynchronous script for processing at least a portion of data supplied by a web service, embedding the asynchronous script in the web page, and presenting at the Internet browser the updated web page with the embedded asynchronous script. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
