    摘要: A gradient refractive-index plastic rod is prepared by prepolymerizing a mixture containing a first monomer and at least a component selected from a second monomer and a non-reactive dopant sealed in a tube, while rotating the tube horizontally around its longitudinal axis; and polymerizing the resulting prepolymer or prepolymers while keeping the tube vertical. In the vertical polymerization stage, the polymerization undergoes in the direction from the periphery to the center of the tube due to an increase of polymerization rate caused by gel effect of the prepolymers which has been piled up on the tube wall during the centrifugal stage, so that the monomers contained in the central part of the tube diffuse outwardly, and thus a plastic rod having a larger region of gradient refractive-index is obtained.

    摘要: An optical film with low or zero birefringence and a method for fabricating the same are provided. The optical film with low or zero birefringence includes a plurality of birefringence films, and the plurality of birefringence films is overlapped with the long axes perpendicular to each other. A sum of the refractive indices of the overlapped birefringence films in an x direction is equal to that in a y direction. The placement of the birefringence films in the optical film with low or zero birefringence can solve the problem that optical polymer cannot be applied to optical parts due to the birefringence of optical polymer.

The surfmer, which keeps nanoparticles and polymers in a good mutual solubility, can increase a content of nanoparticles, and thus overcome a problem of the resulting opaque plastic rod caused by introducing nanoparticles in the prior art. Moreover, nanoparticles can increase a difference of refractive index, the numerical aperture and a transmission efficiency of the GRIN plastic rod.

    摘要: A polymer film without cholesteric liquid crystal (LC) is characterized in that the polymer film has photonic crystal structure. The polymer film is an innovative product in the feature of having photonic crystal structure without containing cholesteric LC. In addition, the polymer film can further contain fluid which is filled in the film body of the polymer film. By filling any of various fluids in the film body, the light of different wavelengths can be reflected by the polymer film based on Bragg reflection, so that the applications of the polymer film can be broadened. Especially when the fluid is anisotropic liquid, the polymer film can be applied to electro-controlled reflective display modules. In addition, stacking the imprinted polymer films manufactured from left-handed and right-handed cholesteric liquid crystals can improve the brightness of reflected light.

    摘要: A manufacturing method of a polymer film with the photonic crystal structure includes a mixing step for at least mixing an achiral liquid crystal (LC), a chiral dopant, a monomer and a photo initiator together to form an LC-monomer mixture, at least one exposure step for exposing the LC-monomer mixture through a mask, at least one diffusion step for diffusing the monomer from the area around one of the exposure areas to the exposure area, and a LC removing step for removing the achiral LC to form the polymer film. By implementing the diffusion step after the exposure step, the polymerization rate of the monomers is enhanced so as to increase the proportion of the polymer in the polymer film and raise the imprint rate of chirality. Therefore, the polymer film can reveal stronger photonic crystal structure and property of Bragg reflection when it is not filled with any fluid.
