摘要: A double extruded heat sink for a thermoelectric cooler is disclosed which includes first and second finned plates. The first (base) plate has spaced long fins and pairs of spaced short fins spaced between adjacent long fins. The end fins have male members formed thereon. The second plate has spaced long fins. Each long fin corresponding with the space between the pair of spaced short fins of the first plate for engaging the inner surfaces of the spaced short fins and making good thermal contact therewith when the first and second plates are press fitted together. The end fins of the second plate's fins have female members formed thereon for engaging the male members to lock the first and second plates together when press fitted. The long fins of the first and second plates are serrated to increase their heat dissipating areas. The double extruded heat sink thereby provides a number of fins substantially greater than can be obtained using single extrusion techniques.

摘要: A sealing mechanism for a drop cable splice enclosure includes a base having an entry hole for receiving a drop cable inserted through a compression grommet assembly, from outside the enclosure. The cable can be prepared for splicing, outside the enclosure. The grommet assembly (and the optionally prepared cable) are inserted into the entry hole, from outside the enclosure. The assembly includes upper and lower pressure plates, a compressible grommet between them, and an adjustment mechanism to apply a compression force to the grommet. The grommet assembly is rotatable to lock it in a keyed section in the entry hole. The adjustment mechanism is then tightened, from outside the enclosure, to compress the grommet between the pressure plates, which seals the grommet in the enclosure base, at the same time sealing the cable in the passageway through the grommet.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a terminal block for a telecommunication cable comprising the steps of providing a mold having a first half and a second half, each forming a respective body cavity configured to form a terminal block and configured to receive a substrate comprising a plurality of openings adapted to receive an insulated electrical contact. A plurality of projections extend from the first half into the cavity, wherein the plurality of projections are adapted to remove a portion of insulation from the electrical contact positioned within each of the openings. The substrate is positioned in the mold and the insulated electrical contact is inserted into each of the openings. The mold is closed such that the plurality of projections remove a portion of the insulation from the insulated electrical contact upon closing of the mold. A dielectric material is then injected into the mold containing the substrate and insulated electrical contact to form a terminal block. The terminal block is removed from the mold, wherein the plurality of projections form a socket adapted to receive an electrical connector.

摘要: A positioning system for a line printer uses dc servomotors for driving a forms feed mechanism in increments of one or more line spaces at a time. The system includes a microprocessor and a position counter that counts either 1/4 or 1 degree displacement pulses generated by a motion indicating means including optical transducers and an emitter disk coupled to the motors. The motion indicating means includes an error hold and compensation counter that counts and stores 1/4 degree pulses generated during error movement of the motors relative to a stop position during the uncontrolled state and supplies a corrected 1 degree pulse to the position counter upon start up.

摘要: A lid-lift hole assembly for an underground utility vault lid comprises a liner positioned in an open-ended lid-lift hole, and a receptacle positioned below the liner. Opposite side walls of the receptacle contain thru-holes aligned with fastener holes in opposite side walls of the liner, Fasteners extending through the thru-holes and into the fastener holes (from the underside of the lid) are tightened (to apply pressure to the juncture between the receptacle and the liner) to lock the liner in the lid-lift hole. The receptacle forms an enlarged-volume, box-like enclosure rigidly (but releasably) held beneath an open passage through the liner. The space inside the receptacle can contain debris kept from entering the working area of the vault. The space inside the receptacle is shaped to receive a tool for removing the lid.

摘要: An apparatus for generating cold and hot for application selectively by contact on an object having a paint or coating whose color changes in response to cold and hot temperatures. The apparatus is easy to hold and handle with one hand while holding an object for application, e.g., a doll or toy car, in the other hand. The apparatus includes a battery powered thermoelectric device having a cold sink shaped to form a cold applicator for cooling the paint sufficiently to change its color, and a heat sink shaped to form a heat applicator for changing back the color. For a doll, the cold sink applicator is used to change, for example, the natural color of the lips and cheeks to a make-up color, and a heat sink shaped to form a comb for combing the doll's hair and a heat applicator for returning the natural color of the doll's lips and cheeks through heat application.
