Abstract: A motor-driven compressor includes an electric motor driven by a motor driver, which includes a switching element that converts DC voltage from a battery to AC voltage. A temperature detector detects the temperature of the switching element. A voltage detector detects DC voltage applied to the switching element from the battery. A control unit suspends the switching operation of the switching element when the detected temperature rises to a temperature threshold. The control unit reduces counter electromotive force generated by the electric motor. The controller changes the temperature threshold such that the temperature threshold gradually increases from when the detected DC voltage is the highest voltage in the applicable voltage range of the battery to when the detected DC voltage is the lowest voltage in the applicable voltage range.

Abstract: An on-vehicle electric compressor for a vehicle includes a compression mechanism compressing a refrigerant, an electric motor driving the compression mechanism and a housing accommodating therein the compression mechanism and the electric motor. The on-vehicle electric compressor further includes a cover fixed to the housing, a motor driving circuit disposed between the housing and the cover and driving the electric motor, and a protecting member protecting the cover against an external force caused when the vehicle has a collision. The protecting member has a contact portion that is contactable with a receiving portion when the external force is applied to the protecting member, the receiving portion having a greater rigidity than the cover to receive the external force through the contact portion.

Abstract: An electrically-driven compressor including a housing, an electric motor, a compression mechanism, a cover member, a motor drive circuit, and a sealing member is disclosed. The electric motor is accommodated in the housing. The compression mechanism is accommodated in the housing and operated by the electric motor. The cover member is attached to the housing. The housing and the cover member form an accommodation portion including an accommodation space therein. The motor drive circuit is accommodated in the accommodation space and drives the electric motor. The sealing member is arranged between the housing and the cover member to seal the accommodation space. The sealing member includes an elastic seal portion that comes into close contact with the housing and the cover member. A core sustains the shape of the seal portion in conformance with the circumferential edge of the accommodation space. The core is formed so that at least a circumferential edge part of the core is in conformance with the circumferential edge of the accommodation space. The seal portion is formed integrally with the circumferential edge part of the shape sustaining member by depositing rubber material thereon.

Abstract: An electric compressor has a hermetic terminal unit that is electrically connected to a motor side wire and a drive circuit side wire and inserted through a through hole formed through a separation wall separating a motor chamber and an accommodating chamber. The hermetic terminal unit has a first connecting terminal that is electrically connected to the motor side wire and elastically deformable, a second connecting terminal that is electrically connected to the drive circuit side wire and elastically deformable, and a conductive member that is fitted to the first connecting terminal and the second connecting terminal and electrically connects the first connecting terminal and the second connecting terminal. The first connecting terminal is elastically deformed and holds the motor side wire by a restoring force thereof. The shield, the outer insulator, and the inner insulator are separate from one another and stacked together. The shield is held between the outer insulator and the inner insulator. The outer circumferential portion of the outer insulator is joined to the outer circumferential portion of the inner insulator.
