Abstract:
Microfluidics has advanced in terms of designs and structures, however, fabrication methods are either time consuming or expensive to produce, in terms of the facilities and equipment needed. A fast and economically viable method is provided to allow, for example, research groups to have access to microfluidic fabrication. Unlike most fabrication methods, a method is provided to fabricate a microfluidic device in one step. In an embodiment, a resolution of 50 micrometers was achieved by using maskless high-resolution digital light projection (MDLP). Bonding and channel fabrication of complex or simple structures can be rapidly incorporated to fabricate the microfluidic devices.
Abstract:
Metal-organic frameworks for capturing one or more of SO2, CO2, and H2O are disclosed herein. Non-limiting examples of metal-organic frameworks include NbOFFIVE-1-Ni and AlFFIVE-1-Ni, among others. The metal-organic frameworks can be used in applications for removing and/or sensing one or more of SO2, CO2, and H2O from a fluid composition or an environment, either of which can proceed under dry or humid conditions and/or at room temperature.

Embodiments of the present disclosure describe a gas sensor comprising a gas-sensing material including a metal-organic framework with fcu topology and a substrate with a pair of electrodes proximate to the gas-sensing material, wherein the gas sensor is configured to detect toxic gas. Embodiments of the present disclosure further describe a method of detecting gas comprising contacting a gas sensor including a metal-organic framework with fcu topology with a gas/vapour composition including at least one toxic gas, capturing the at least one toxic gas from the fluid composition, and measuring an electrical property to detect a presence of the at least one toxic gas.

A moisture sensor is configured to be deployed in soil for measuring a moisture content. The moisture sensor includes a housing; a transistor configured to interact with water from the soil; a power source configured to generate an electrical current; and a processing unit configured to receive a reading from the transistor, and to calculate the moisture content of the soil based on the reading. The transistor includes a metal-organic framework, MOF.
Abstract:
A method, system, and sensor for air flow sensing. The system can include a cantilever, a transducer, and a processing module. The method can include measuring beam deflections of one or more cantilevers, extracting information about air flow, and determining one or more of an airspeed, an angle of attack, and a sideslip, based on extracted information. The system and method can exploit nonlinearities in the behavior of the cantilever in fluid flow.
