Abstract: A piston for an engine is provided, that makes it possible to improve supply of engine oil to a recessed part thereof. The piston includes a resin coating film and a recessed part on a surface of a skirt part. In the piston, resin coating films are distributed in a patchy fashion on the surface of the skirt part. The recessed part is formed by the surface of the skirt part, between adjacent surfaces of the patchy resin coating films and by the adjacent resin coating films, forming a net-like groove. An outer-edge resin coating film, extending in a piston movement direction, is provided at the ends, in a piston circumferential direction of the skirt part.

Abstract: A piston for an engine includes a skirt part, and a resin coating film and a recess formed on a surface of the skirt part. A plurality of the resin coating films are discretely arranged in spots on the surface of the skirt part, and a mesh-like groove is formed by the recess provided between the resin coating films. The recess formed on the skirt part between the resin coating films adjacent to each other in a piston circumference direction is set to be adjacent to another resin coating film in a piston moving direction. An end part of the resin coating film in the piston moving direction is formed in a concave shape when seen in a piston radius direction.

Abstract: There is provided an engine stopping device including a stopping solenoid, where an operating shaft, interlocked to a control rack of a fuel injection pump, is rotatably supported by an engine case in a pass-through manner. The control rack is forcibly movable to a stopping position by an action of the stopping solenoid on an operation arm provided for a projecting portion of the operating shaft in an integrally rotatable manner. An extending-retracting rod of the stopping solenoid and the operation arm are interlocked by fitting engagement between a pin provided for the extending-retracting rod and a cut-out portion of the operation arm. The cut-out portion is configured in a shape elongated along a direction perpendicular to a movement trajectory of the extending-retracting rod.

Abstract: An engine in which an oil consumption and a leakage of blow-by gas can be stably reduced for a long period of time. The engine includes a first land (3), a first ring groove (4), a second land (5), a second ring groove (6), a third land (7), a third ring groove (8), and a piston skirt (9) formed on a piston peripheral wall (1) in the above-recited order from a side of a piston head (2). A first pressure ring (10) is fitted in the first ring groove (4). A second pressure ring (11) is fitted in the second ring groove (6), an oil ring (12) fitted in the third ring groove (8), and an indentation (13) is formed at the second land (5).

Abstract: An engine exhaust treatment apparatus, which suppresses thermal damage to an electrothermal ignition apparatus, includes: an exhaust passage; an oxidation catalyst disposed in the exhaust passage; a combustible gas generator; a combustible gas supplying passage; a heat dissipation port opened upstream in the exhaust passage from the oxidation catalyst and in a downstream part of the combustible gas supplying passage, the exhaust passage and the combustible gas supplying passage communicating with each other through the heat dissipation port; and an electrothermal ignition apparatus disposed in the combustible gas supplying passage. Heat of flaming combustion of the combustible gas ignited by the electrothermal ignition apparatus is supplied to the exhaust passage, to raise the temperature of exhaust in the exhaust passage. A heat dissipation plate is attached to an outer projecting portion of the electrothermal ignition apparatus. The outer projecting portion projects outside a wall of the exhaust treatment apparatus.

Abstract: A subchamber type combustion chamber for a diesel engine, which reduces fuel consumption rate and combustion noise. To achieve the object, a subchamber type combustion chamber is communicated with a main combustion chamber through a nozzle hole, a fuel injection nozzle faces into the subchamber, and a glow plug extends into the subchamber. A heat generating portion of the glow plug includes a rod-shaped portion and a projecting portion projecting from an end of the rod-shaped portion. The projecting portion is provided with a convex curved surface projecting from a circular peripheral edge at the end of the rod-shaped portion while the convex curved surface is reduced in diameter. The percentage of value P/D obtained by dividing projection dimension P of the projecting portion from the end of the rod-shaped portion by diameter dimension D at the end of the rod-shaped portion is 3% to 23%.

Abstract: Provided is an exhaust system for an engine in which a fastening force of a fastener hardly decreases. An exhaust system for an engine includes: an exhaust passage component of ferrous metal; and a fastener that fastens the exhaust passage component to other parts, the exhaust passage component including a pressure receiving surface that receives a fastening force of the fastener. The oxide film of triiron tetraoxide is formed on the pressure receiving surface of the exhaust passage component. It is preferable that the oxide film of triiron tetraoxide be also formed on an outer surface other than the pressure receiving surface of the exhaust passage component. It is preferable that the oxide film of triiron tetraoxide be also formed on an inner surface of the exhaust passage component.

Abstract: There is provided an engine capable of reducing oil consumption. The engine includes a cylinder head, a cylinder head cover mounted above the cylinder head, a rocker arm covered by the cylinder head cover, and a breather chamber provided inside the cylinder head cover. As a front-rear direction is defined by a longitudinal direction of the cylinder head cover, the breather chamber has a blow-by gas inlet at one side in the front-rear direction, a blow-by gas outlet at another side in the front-rear direction, and an oil discharging guide chamber at an intermediate part in the front-rear direction. The blow-by gas inlet is opened on a bottom wall of the breather chamber, and a peripheral wall of the oil discharging guide chamber is protruded downwardly from the bottom wall of the breather chamber toward between the rocker arm provided at a side of the blow-by gas outlet and the blow-by gas inlet.
