An electronic device includes a touch panel, a time information obtaining section, and an authentication section. The time information obtaining section obtains time information for user authentication. The authentication section executes user authentication based on the time information obtained by the time information obtaining section. The time information obtaining section changes the time information according to a user's touch duration on the touch panel and changes an amount of change in time that the time information indicates according to a user's manner of touching the touch panel.

Provided is an image forming apparatus that controls a user authentication and a switching action for switching into a specific operation mode (either one of first and second power saving modes, and emergency stop), depending an alarm level of disaster information. A user authentication function circuit is for performing the user authentication. An operation mode switching circuit is for switching a current operation mode into the specific operation mode. A disaster information acquire circuit is for receiving disaster information representing the alarm level. A system control circuit controls, depending on the alarm level, the user authentication operation by the user authentication function circuit and a switching of one of the operation modes by the operation mode switching circuit. The aforementioned specified operation mode is either one of the user authentication mode, the first power saving mode, the second power saving mode, and the emergency stop.

The image forming apparatus includes: a preview-image-data generating circuit that generates preview image data from image data; and a preview-image-data transmitting circuit that transmits the preview image data to the portable terminal. The portable terminal includes: a preview-image-data receiving circuit that receives the preview image data from the image forming apparatus via wireless communication; a preview-image display circuit that displays an image of the preview image data; and a rotation detecting circuit that detects rotation of a main body of the portable terminal with a predetermined rotation procedure. When the rotation detecting circuit detects rotation of the main body of the portable terminal while the image of the preview image data is displayed, the portable terminal displays an image of the preview image data corresponding to a back side of the displayed image.

The combined image data generating circuit generates single combined image data with a plurality of pages by combining the scanned image data with the target image data, and acquires the combined image data instead of the scanned image data.

The grouping circuit groups pieces of rasterized data with an identical content one another among the one or more pieces of rasterized data based on the result of the matching processing. The communications control circuit transmits the grouped one or more pieces of rasterized data to an image forming apparatus by each of the groups via the communication circuit.
