    Abstract: A document conveying device (9) includes a sheet feeding tray (44), a discharge tray (43) provided below the sheet feeding tray (44), a feeding roller (51), a conveying mechanism (35), a lifting mechanism (38) which lifts and lowers the sheet feeding tray (44), a discharge tray document sensor (18) which detects the document on the discharge tray (43), and a control part (10) which controls the lifting mechanism (38) such that the document placed on the sheet feeding tray (44) is pressed against the feeding roller (51) when the conveying mechanism (35) conveys the document. The control part (10) controls the lifting mechanism (38) to lower the sheet feeding tray (44) by a larger amount in a case where the document is not detected by the discharge tray document sensor (18) when power is turned on than a case where the document is detected by the discharge tray document sensor (18).

    Abstract: A controller starts sheet feeding at a primary sheet feeding speed, then momentarily stops a sheet feeding rotary member, and thereafter starts secondary sheet feeding. When the secondary sheet feeding speed equals a first speed, the controller momentarily stops the sheet feeding rotary member such that the leading end of a document sheet stops at a first stop position. When the secondary sheet feeding speed equals a second speed, the controller momentarily stops the sheet feeding rotary member such that the leading end of a document sheet stops at a second stop position. The second stop position is located downstream of the first stop position in the document conveying direction.

    Abstract: The document feeder includes a lift plate, a pickup roller, a lift motor, a retard roller, and a control unit. In a manual feed mode, the control unit rotates the retard roller to feed a document in a document conveyance direction. Further, the control unit causes the lift motor to start lowering the lift plate while the pickup roller is feeding a document after starting to rotate the pickup roller.     Abstract: An image forming apparatus according to the present disclosure includes a type identification value measurement portion, a determination portion and a speed adjustment portion. The type identification value measurement portion uses, when the print job is executed, a media sensor previously provided in a paper feed cassette to measure a type identification value for a sheet to be transported in the print job. The determination portion determines whether or not an incidence of paper delay corresponding to the measured type identification value for the sheet exceeds a previously set threshold value. The speed adjustment portion lowers, when as a result of the determination, the incidence of paper delay exceeds the threshold value, a transport speed of the sheet as compared with a normal transport speed to execute the print job.
