摘要: A process for producing a powdered carboxyl-containing polymer comprising mixing a solution of a water-insoluble polymer containing a carboxyl group per molecule in a hydrophilic organic solvent (e.g., ethanol) and an aqueous solution of a dispersant comprising a neutralized copolymer of a carboxyl-containing unsaturated monomer and a (meth)acrylic ester to precipitate the water-insoluble polymer. Fine polymer particles free from adhesion or agglomeration are obtained efficiently. Since any residual unreacted carboxyl-containing monomers are dissolved out in water as a precipitating solvent, the resulting powdered polymer has a reduced residual content of the unreacted monomers which may be poisonous and is therefore useful as a base resin of cosmetics or a coating resin for applications involving contact with the skin.

摘要: A color developer for pressure-sensitive copying paper is disclosed, containing a polyvalent metal-modification product of a p-substituted phenolformaldehyde condensate substantially terminated with an o-substituted phenol nucleus, with a content of a condensate component in which each of both terminal phenol nuclei thereof has a hydrogen atom at the o-position being not more than 20% by weight based on the total condensate. The color developer exhibits excellent color developability, undergoes no yellowing, and provides a color image having excellent water resistance.

摘要: A filled polyolefin composition is described based upon a polyolefin resin filled with a mechanico-chemically modified filler. The filler, which may be the usual filler material, is modified by comminution, by mechanically exposing fresh surfaces of the original filler particles in the presence of a polymer of a vinyl monomer. The vinyl monomer should have at least one polar group capable of bonding with the freshly exposed surfaces of filler material as they are formed and exposed during the mechanical operation. The process for the production of the modified filler is included.
