摘要: An occupant protecting system for a vehicle includes a triangular shock absorbing member which is accommodated in a folded state within an accommodating casing mounted along a roof rail. The shock absorbing member is held stationarily at its front and rear ends to a vehicle body by fixing pins. A movable pin mounted at a lower end of the shock absorbing member is connected through a wire to a developing or unfolding device mounted to a center pillar. The developing or unfolding device includes a gas generator and a cylinder with a piston slidably received therein and coupled to the wire. When the gas generator is operated upon collision of the vehicle to force the piston in the cylinder downwardly by a high pressure gas generated by the gas generator, the movable pin is pulled down through the wire, so that the shock absorbing member is drawn out of the accommodating casing and developed into a triangular shape. Thus, the membrane-like shock absorbing member, when being accommodated, is compact in size and can easily be mounted in a narrow space in the vehicle body.

摘要: A safety seat belt device for use in a motor vehicle has a seal belt for constraining an occupant of the motor vehicle. The seat belt includes a shoulder belt portion for extending across the thorax of the occupant and a lap belt portion for extending across the lower waist of the occupant. The safety seat belt device also includes a lock device for locking both the shoulder belt portion and the lap belt portion when the motor vehicle undergoes a forward or rearward collision, and locking only the lap belt portion when the motor vehicle undergoes a lateral collision. The lock device may include a lock mechanism for locking the shoulder belt portion upon a forward or rearward collision, and a lock mechanism for locking the lap belt portion immediately when the seat belt is fastened by the occupant regardless of whether the motor vehicle suffers a lateral collision or not.

摘要: An air bag, formed by sewing two basic fabrics at a sewing portion, is accommodated within a module case in a state in which the air bag has been fixed to a holder of an inflater at rear-side base portions and folded up into a bellows-like shape at a front-side foldable portions. The base portion of the left basic fabric, which is remote from a center pillar and a front door of a vehicle, has a section between two points b and c, which defines a surplus section. When the foldable portions of the air bag are expanded, the foldable portions can be moved toward an inner surface of a side of the vehicle body by the surplus section b and c and hence, the air bag can be deployed obliquely forwardly to reliably penetrate into a space between the center pillar, as well as the front door, and an occupant.

摘要: A side impact air bag apparatus located in a seat back of a vehicle for directly initiating an air bag longitudinally before completely inflating the bag in the width direction. The side impact air bag has a casing with an interior, a support for an inflator and a bag enclosing the inflator. The bag is capable of direct inflation longitudinally before completely inflating in the width direction. The bag is arranged inside the casing to have, a forward middle portion associated with the inflator, a right base cloth portion extending from the right of the forward middle portion and having first angled bellow folds of cloth, a left base cloth portion extending from the left of the forward middle portion and having second angled bellow folds of cloth, and an interior gas flow passage extending between the forward middle portion and the inflator, such that gas generated by the inflator easily reaches the forward middle portion through the interior gas flow passage and pushes the forward middle portion out in a longitudinal direction before the first bellow folds and the second bellow folds are inflated.

摘要: A battery tester is formed at an AC constant-current generator for applying an AC current for measurement to a battery BT under test via a coupling capacitor, an internal resistance detecting device for detecting the internal resistance of the battery BT according to a voltage signal therefrom when the AC current is applied, a voltage detecting device for detecting the terminal voltage across the battery, and a deterioration judging unit for judging the deterioration of the battery from the internal resistance and terminal voltage detected by the internal resistance detecting device and the voltage detecting device. The internal resistance and terminal voltage of the battery are measured simultaneously, and deterioration of the battery is judged from the measurement data.

摘要: An air bag inflation gas generator to feed combustion gas for inflation of air bags such as air gas for absorbing collision shocks, life jackets, rafts and escape chutes, that aim to easily and surely control the flow rate of combustion gas into the air bag at the initial inflation of the air bag and to effectively utilize the entire purifying filter. The generator has a longitudinal outer cylindrical member having a plurality of gas outlets in its outer periphery, an inner cylindrical member inserted in the outer cylindrical member having gas flow openings formed in the outer periphery, a final filter disposed between the outer cylindrical member and the inner cylindrical member, a plurality of gas generating agents accommodated in a laminated state in the axial direction of the inner cylindrical member having a through hole formed at the center, and an igniter and an ignition agent disposed at one end of the inner cylindrical member and a shielding member for shielding the through hole is disposed at the gas generating agent or between the gas generating agents disposed at the middle part of the inner cylindrical member. This invention forms a plurality of gas flow openings in the substantial part of the outer periphery of the inner cylindrical member, and the hole area of these gas flow openings are designed to be larger as they get a way from the gas outlets of the outer cylindrical member.

A sputtering target with the surface roughness (Ra) not more than 1.0 .mu.m, the total amount of contaminants, metal elements with a high melting point other than the major component and alloy components and Si, Al, Co, Ni, and B, not more that 500 ppm, the hydrogen content of the surface not more than 50 ppm, and the thickness of a surface damage layer not more than 50 .mu.m is provided, which is manufactured by precision machining, preferably, with the use of a diamond turning tool.

摘要: An inflatable bag assembly is suitable for a seat of a vehicle such as an assistant driver's seat and has a bag which is inflatable in a curved configuration offset to one side. The bag is accommodated in a retainer case in a folded position. A gas generator has a gas outlet which is offset to one side with respect to the bag. Alternatively, the bag itself may be distributed less to one side of the retainer case than to the other side. Such a configuration of the gas generator or the bag allows the bag to begin inflating at the particular side mentioned above.

摘要: An armrest frame (5A) bends at a hinge groove (5A2), which serves as a weak portion, when an impact load is applied to the armrest frame (5A) in an armrest (5) following a side impact with another vehicle. As a result, the armrest (5) is allowed to move toward the inside, in the vehicle width direction, during a side impact with another vehicle, thus ensuring the movement of a seated individual toward the inside, in the vehicle width direction. The vehicle armrest (5) also provides the same sense of stability as an armrest as a conventional armrest during normal use at times other than when there is a side impact with another vehicle.
