    摘要: This invention provides a stress-inducible promoter that effectively functions in monocotyledonous plants such as rice, and environmental stress-tolerant plants using the promoter. Such promoter is derived from rice and consists of the following DNA (a) or (b): (a) DNA that consists of the nucleotide sequence as shown in SEQ ID NO: 1 or 10; or (b) DNA that hybridizes under stringent conditions with DNA consisting of a nucleotide sequence that is complementary to the DNA consisting of the nucleotide sequence as shown in SEQ ID NO: 1 or 10 and that expresses stress-inducible promoter activity. Such environmental stress-tolerant plant has had such promoter introduced therein.

    摘要: Identification of a gene from monocotyledonous plants such as rice, which codes for a transcription factor specific to a stress tolerant gene and provision of a novel environmental stress tolerant plant using the gene. From the rice genome, a gene, which binds to a cis element existing upstream of the gene encoding a stress responsive protein and for a transcription factor to activate the transcription of the gene, is identified. Further, the gene of the transcription factor is used to transform a plant, thereby improving tolerance against environmental stresses such as low temperature, dehydration, and salt stresses.

    摘要: The present invention provides adiponectin expression-inducing agents, and therapeutic agents using the same for obesity and obesity-related diseases such as cardiovascular diseases or metabolic diseases, as well as methods of searching for adiponectin expression-inducing agents. KLF9, which can bind to the 32-bp fragment of position −188 to position −157 from the adiponectin expression start site, was demonstrated to enhance adiponectin promoter activity. Therefore, the present invention uses KLF9 as an adiponectin expression-inducing agent, and suggests that KLF9 replenishment therapy is useful for preventing and/or treating obesity or obesity-related diseases including metabolic diseases such as insulin resistance and type II diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

    摘要: Disclosed is an exhalation gaseous component gauge including, in a palm-sized casing having exhalation taking-in and taking-out slots made on its front and rear sides, a semiconductor gas sensor so placed that the air flowing from one's mouth may pass the sensor, a CPU responsive to the signal from the sensor for determining the quantity of the exhalation gaseous components, and a display for showing the so determined result. The palm-sized casing is so sized and configured as to permit one to have a look at the display while holding the gauge in hand to direct the air from the mouth to the exhalation taking-in slot. Also, disclosed is a cellular phone equipped with an exhalation gaseous component gauge.
