    摘要: In a map display system for vehicles, spot coordinates are preliminarily stored which represent map forming spots and are provided with a coordinate origin of a specified spot, and display coordinates indicating map changing frames are also preliminarily stored. The display coordinate of the present position of the vehicle is compared with the display coordinate of a map changing frame. When the present position reaches the map changing frame, the spot coordinate of the present position is compared with the preliminarily stored spot coordinates so as to extract spots forming a new map centering the present position of the vehicle.

    摘要: An electronic map display system for use on a vehicle comprises a display unit for displaying one of a map or a menu of the names of a plurality of particular regions, a map data storage medium for storing map data on the particular regions and name information on the particular regions, a manual controller having a name retrieval key, a setting key, and cursor keys, and an electronic control unit for controlling the display on the display unit in response to instructions from the manual controller. Upon reception of an instruction produced by the name retrieval key of the manual controller, the electronic control unit reads the name information on the particular regions from the map data storage medium, displays the region names as the menu on the display unit, and selects one of the displayed region names through operation of the cursor keys. When the setting key is depressed, the electronic control unit reads map data related to the region name on the cursor position from the map data storage medium, and displays the map of the selected particular region on the display unit.

    摘要: A novel electronic map display system is disclosed for displaying a map on the basis of a map data stored. Various discontinuous points in each of predetermined areas included a map to be displayed are stored as structured data in the form of vectors. The discontinuous geographic data in each of the areas is stored as image pattern data. A selection signal is produced from a display selection unit for selecting an area to be displayed from the map. In accordance with the selection signal, a display signal is generated from the pattern data and the structured data corresponding to the area to be displayed. A map of the particular area is displayed on the basis of the display signal of a display control unit.

The optical data recording medium is excellent in super-resolution property, and enables reproduction of a shorter mark length.
