摘要: A vehicle electrical power system includes a generator which generates power for application to loads and to chassis and batteries for storage. A starter motor for an engine is energized primarily from the battery. A contactor between the batteries has a closed state in which power can flow between the batteries and an open state which interrupts power flow between the batteries and from the generator to the cranking battery. A controller enables periodic stopping and starting of the engine is responsive to a battery state of charge for at least one of the batteries for operating the engine to maintain a minimum battery state of charge. The contactor may have a limited closed state in which power flow between the batteries is surge limited. Power flow is surge limited through the connector responsive to a voltage difference between the batteries.

摘要: An optical communications system includes a plurality of optical fiber spans. An optical loss of one of the plurality of optical fiber spans is different from an optical loss of another one of the plurality of optical fiber spans. At least one of the plurality of optical fiber spans includes an optical loss that is greater than or equal to 35 dB and at least one of the plurality of optical fiber spans includes an optical loss that is less than 30 dB. An optical amplification system includes at least one discrete optical amplifier, at least one distributed optical amplifier, and an optical loss element. The optical amplification system has spectral gain that compensates for substantially all losses experienced by the optical signals propagating in the plurality of optical fiber spans.

摘要: A mounting base for a light emitting diode (LED) clearance or identification light for a mobile vehicle such as a truck or a bus. The mounting base is comprised of a centerline structural member with intersecting structural members which are engaged to the centerline structural member at the front end and at two other locations between the front end and the rear end of the centerline structural member. An outer cover encases the centerline structural member and the intersecting structural members. The outer cover extends beyond the front end to form an LED mating surface. The LED mating surface has a slot for an engaging an LED element. The centerline structural member has holes at from the from its top edge to bottom edge at the rear end of the centerline structural member and where the centerline structural member intersects the intersecting structural members. The holes correspond to different vehicle roof mounting configurations. The outer cover has holes corresponding to the holes in the centerline structural member. The entire mounting base is tapered downwards from the LED mating surface backwards.

摘要: The loads of a vehicle electrical system are connected to a power distribution bus through a first or through first and second latching relays. A set of vehicle mandatory loads are connected to an output side of the first latching relay to be cut off from the power distribution bus upon opening of the first latching relay. A set of vehicle optional loads are connected to an output side of the second latching relay to be cut off from the power distribution bus upon opening of the first latching relay or the second latching relay. Opening and closing of the first and second latching relays depends of the values for the measured current and measured voltage. Among factors relating to opening and closing of the first and second latching relays are measured voltage exceeding a voltage high threshold, in which case the first latching relay opens, measured voltage falling below a low voltage threshold in which case the second latching relay opens while the first latching relay remains closed and a positive current transient exceeding a minimum threshold, which opens the first latching relay.
