A multi-piece rim includes a rim base including a first flange and a gutter band, a bead seat band including a second flange, a lock ring, and a first side ring located on a side of the first flange and a second side ring located on a side of the second flange. A circumferentially extending surface of the first flange and a tapered surface of a circumferentially extending inner surface of the first side ring and/or a circumferentially extending surface of the second flange and a tapered surface of a circumferentially extending inner surface of the second side ring are inclined radially outwardly in an axially outboard direction of the multi-piece rim, so that circumferential and radial slippage between rim members is prevented to suppress a fretting fatigue.

A multi-piece rim type disk wheel includes a multi-piece rim and a disk. The multi-piece rim includes a rim base, a bead seat band, a lock ring and a flange. The disk includes an outside portion constituting a part of the rim base, and a hub coupling portion extending radially inwardly from the outside portion and has a substantially T-shaped cross-section. A method of producing the multi-piece rim type disk wheel includes the steps of: manufacturing a gutter band, a first center band, a disk having a substantially T-shaped cross-section, a second center band and a back flange separately from each other; and connecting them to each other by a full penetration butt weld to form into the integral rim base.

The invention provides an organic EL apparatus including a substrate, a pair of electrodes formed on the substrate, and a light emitting layer disposed between the electrodes is provided in order to implement a light emitting apparatus and an electronic device which decrease reflections in a display of the organic EL apparatus, and to enhance display quality. The substrate includes a transparent substrate, the pair of the electrodes is an anode disposed on the light emitting layer at the substrate side, and a cathode disposed on the light emitting layer at an opposite side of the substrate. A semi-reflection film is disposed near the anode. The semi-reflection film transmits a part of external light incident on the organic EL apparatus from the substrate, and reflects a part of the light other than the light transmitted.

A method of manufacturing an organic EL element according to the present invention comprises the steps of forming pixel electrodes (801), (802), (803) on a transparent substrate (804) and forming on the pixel electrodes by patterning luminescent layers (806), (807), (808) made of an organic compound by means of an ink-jet method. According to this method, it is possible to carry out a high precise patterning easily and in a short time, thereby enabling to carry out optimization for a film design and luminescent characteristic easily as well as making it easy to adjust a luminous efficiency.

A light emission device (1000) is manufactured by bonding together a driving circuit substrate (100) formed with driving circuit constituted by thin film transistors 11, and a light emission substrate (300) comprising a successively laminated transparent electrode layer 31, bank layer 32 made from insulating material, positive hole injection layer 33, organic EL layer 34 and cathode layer 36.

A highly quality printing of images such as photographs, designs, and the like, is effected without using special paper. The following is provided: a supply mechanism for supplying a recording medium; means for applying a surface modifier for coating the surface modifier on the surface modification area, which is the area to be the modified of the recording medium supplied with the aforementioned means for supplying; and means for drying for drying the surface modification area coated on the aforementioned surface modification area. An area can be printed on the surface modification area with high quality. As such, high quality printing is made possible with regular paper, without using special paper, as before.

A projection display apparatus employing organic EL elements is presented that is light in weight, is small in size, and can be practically implemented. In particular, the apparatus suppresses light-emission performance degradation caused by generated heat, thereby extending useful life, stabilizing brightness, and securing continual maximum brightness. The apparatus comprises: liquid crystal panels 12R, 12G, and 12B; light emitting units 13R, 13G, and 13B, positioned at the back of the liquid crystal panels and provided with organic EL elements as light emitting layers; and cooling bodies 14R, 14G, and 14B, positioned at the back of the light emitting units, for dispersing the heat generated by the light emitting layers. The cooling bodies 14R, 14G, and 14B may, for example, be electronic cooling elements that employ the Peltier effect to absorb and radiate the generated heat. Alternatively, the cooling bodies may be configured as heat-dispersing fins that guide and disperse generated heat.

A resin composition for producing a color filter by an ink jet system contains (A) a colorant, (B) a binder resin and (c) a solvent having a boiling point of 245° C. or more at normal pressure, wherein the color filter is produced by discharging the above resin composition from an ink jet head into light transmitting regions on the surface of a transparent substrate having banks formed thereon to store the resin composition in the light transmitting regions defined by the banks; forming a pixel pattern by drying the resin composition stored in the light transmitting regions; and forming a protective layer to cover the pixel pattern.
