摘要: A humeral arthroplasty system includes a sensor device, a humeral head including a first portion of circuitry of the sensor device and an adapter socket, a taper adapter configured to seat within the adapter socket, a stemless humeral anchor couplable to the taper adapter, and a second portion of circuitry of the sensor device extending into the adapter socket. The taper adapter and the stemless humeral anchor can comprise a central bore extending therethrough, and the second portion of the circuitry of the sensor device can be connected to the first portion by an electrical circuit extending through the taper adapter. The humeral head can comprise a ceramic material. The second portion of circuitry can comprise a force sensor extending into the adapter socket, wherein the taper adapter is configured to engage the force sensor when seated in the adapter socket.

摘要: An implant assembly and associated method for selectively performing reverse and traditional arthroplasty for a shoulder joint that includes a humerus and a glenoid. The implant assembly may include a head, a cup, a humeral stem and an adaptor. The method includes inserting the humeral stem to the humerus and connecting a male taper of the adaptor to a female taper of the head. For reverse arthroplasty, the method includes attaching the adaptor to the glenoid and the cup to the stem. For traditional arthroplasty, the method includes attaching the adaptor to the humeral stem and the cup to the glenoid. The method also includes articulating the head with the cup.

摘要: An elbow prosthesis according to the present teachings can include a stem structure and an articulating component. The stem structure can be operable to be positioned in a bone of a joint. The stem structure can include a stem portion that is operable to be positioned in the bone and a C-shaped body portion having a first retaining mechanism formed thereon. The articulating component can have a second retaining mechanism formed thereon. One of the first and second retaining mechanisms can include an extension portion and a first anti-rotation portion. The other retaining mechanism can include a receiving portion and a second anti-rotation portion. The articulating component can be advanced from an insertion position to an assembled position, such that the first and second mechanisms cooperatively interlock to inhibit translation and rotation of the articulating component relative to the C-shaped body portion of the stem structure.

摘要: A method and apparatus of performing a procedure relative to the glenohumeral joint. Resection of the glenoid and/or the humerus can proceed through an incision formed near the glenohumeral joint. The incision can be formed generally near a superior-lateral portion near the glenohumeral joint and allow less invasive access to the glenohumeral joint and the portions that form the glenohumeral joint. A stem is positioned into a resected humerus through the incision. A humeral head is coupled to the stem within the incision after the stem has been coupled to the patient's humerus.
