    摘要: A microcapsule comprising a hydrophobic core within a polymeric shell, in which the core comprises: (a) 10 to 65% by weight of a hydrocarbon liquid or hydrocarbon wax containing hydrocarbon molecules of between 10 and 24 carbon chain length; and (b) 35 to 90% by weight of an aliphatic acid containing at least 6 carbon atoms, based on the total weight of the core. The microcapsules are suitable for use in heat storage systems and especially in heat transfer systems were it is normally necessary for the density of the microcapsules and the carrier fluid to be essentially the same.

    摘要: A particulate composition comprising particles which consist of a shell wall surrounding a hydrophilic core, wherein the shell wall is formed from a polymeric coacervate and wherein the particles comprise a polymeric amphipathic stabiliser. Also claimed is a process of producing a particulate composition comprising particles which consist of a shell wall surrounding a hydrophilic core, comprising the steps of a) forming an aqueous liquid that contains a wall building material that is capable of forming the shell wall by coacervation, b) dispersing the aqueous liquid into a water immiscible liquid, which comprises a stabilising substance to form a dispersion that comprises aqueous droplets dispersed in a continuous phase of water immiscible liquid, c) subjecting the dispersion to coacervation conditions, such that the wall building material coacervates at the surface of the aqueous doplets, characterised in that the stabilising substance comprises a polymeric amphipathic stabiliser. Preferably the particulate composition obtainable by the process contains an active ingredient and is used in a detergent composition. The active ingredient preferably comprises any of detergency building ingredients, a buffering system and/or a sequesterant and/or detergent builder. Citric acid is a particularly preferred active ingredient.

    摘要: Polymeric particles comprising a polymeric matrix that has been formed from a blend of monomers comprising a first monomer which is an ethylenically unsaturated ionic monomer and a second monomer which is an ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic monomer which is capable of forming a homopolymer of glass transition temperature in excess of 50° C., wherein secondary particles are distributed throughout the matrix, in which the secondary particles comprise a hydrophobic polymer that has been formed from an ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic monomer which is capable of forming a homopolymer of glass transition temperature in excess of 50° C. and optionally other monomers, which hydrophobic polymer is different from the polymeric matrix. Also claimed is a process for preparing particles. The particles have improved shatter resistance. Preferably the polymeric particles comprise an active ingredient, especially a colorant. Such particles combine improved shatter resistance with the ability to retain the active ingredient. The particles of the invention can be used in a variety of industrial applications, for instance in the manufacture of inks, paper and cosmetics.
