    摘要: A display device includes a reflector in which a plurality of elements, each including a number of reflective regions, is arranged. In the reflector, the reflective regions of each said element are disposed so that at least part of incoming light, which has been incident on the element, is reflected by each one of the reflective regions after another and then allowed to go out of the element. At least one of the reflective regions of each said element includes: a light reflective plane; and a light modulating layer that is formed on one side of the light reflective plane so as to face the incoming light.

    摘要: An erasing device for a liquid crystal display image of the present invention is furnished with an auxiliary power source for continuously supplying power source to a liquid crystal display panel for a certain period after the main power source of the main body of the liquid crystal display device is turned OFF. Upon input of a power source OFF signal directing to turn OFF the main power source, a driving signal generating circuit and a driver controller light up the liquid crystal display panel entirely on a saturation voltage of the liquid crystal and subsequently shut off the same entirely using the power supply from the auxiliary power source. Consequently, it has become possible to erase an afterimage quickly on an active matrix liquid crystal display panel with a memory maintaining function of a liquid crystal display device, thereby not only upgrading the display quality, but also preventing deterioration of the liquid crystal caused by an application of an abnormal voltage associated with the occurrence of an afterimage.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device, includes: a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween, and a plurality of pixel regions defined by a pair of electrodes for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal layer. Each of the plurality of pixel regions includes a reflection region and a transmission region, and the liquid crystal layer is made of a liquid crystal material having positive dielectric anisotropy. A first polarizing element is provided on the first substrate opposite to the liquid crystal layer; a second polarizing element is provided on the second substrate opposite to the liquid crystal layer; a first phase difference compensator is provided between the first polarizing element and the liquid crystal layer; and a second phase difference compensator is provided between the second polarizing element and the liquid crystal layer. A twist angle &thgr;t of the liquid crystal layer is in a range of 0° to 90°. Retardation Rd and the twist angle &thgr;t in a visible light region of the liquid crystal layer in the reflection region are in ranges within curves respectively represented by the following Formulae (1) and (2), and Formulae (3) and (4), in ranges within curves respectively represented by the following Formulae (5) and (6) and Formulae (7) and (8) at the twist angle &thgr;t in a range of 0°≦&thgr;t≦54.3°, and in ranges within curves respectively represented by prescribed Formulae.
